Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde

Strengths: Decent graphics and sound, quick and simple gameplay, good controls

Weakness: No online or system link play, limited replay in single player mode

Goblin Commander is a well done RTS for the XBox, slimmed down with a number of the complex RTS elements skimmed out. The gameplay is made simple and clean and quick, with a limitation of the number of units and types of units available. Some of the more complex elements of a standard RTS have been removed, such as large amounts of resource gathering, which helps out on a console. Another welcome...

Goblin Commander

Strengths: Easy to control RTS on a console

Weakness: Graphics are lacking, could be overly simplistic for some

This is an enjoyable little RTS that is good for a cheap price. Don't expect a high level of depth or wonderful graphics. This is just a well designed RTS for the consoles. The game isn't very long, but what is there is fun. There isn't too much variety, as each level seems to consist of generating as many of the best unit available at the time, and then crushing your enemies. Fun, but can get...

.

Strengths: Great RTS gameplay, excellent controls

Weakness: N64-like graphics

Real-time strategy games, according to many gamers, are only done justice on a PC, because you can then take advantage of the mouse and keyboard setup to control your units on the battlefield. This game is great in that Jaleco has managed to simplify the control scheme and setup to suit the Xbox's controller and face buttons really well. You are able to control your units of goblins easily in the...

Deecent real time strategy for the Xbox

Strengths: One of the few real time strategy games designed with consoles in mind

Weakness: Game may be too simplistic for its own good

Real time strategy games have become a mainstay on the PC for years now. Classics such as Starcraft have had people playing for hours on end. However games have never had as much success on consoles as they weren't created with that in mind. In steps the game Goblin Commander. Obviously by the games title you control an army of Goblins. Against a whole bunch of other goblin armies. Five to be...

The power of Goblins... at your command.

Strengths: Excellent RTS gameplay, with stunning and humorous graphics.

Weakness: The game is unforgiving in terms of difficulty at times.

Real Time Strategy (referred to as "RTS" hereafter) games are definitely on a dry note when it comes to the XBox platform. Luckily, the folks at Jaleco decided to release the obscurely titled (but straight to the point) "Goblin Commander" for the XBox. In this game, you take on the guise of a Goblin Commander, who can utilize dozens of different goblins to ultimately conquer the land and vanquish...

Goblins attack!

Strengths: Easy to use control for an RTS. Interesting story

Weakness: Dated graphics, no on-line or network support.

This is a decent RTS for a console system. The controls are fairly simple and the game is not too deep to be overwhelming for controller inputs. Too bad the game does not support on-line or network play, as this would greatly increase the game-play. The concept and idea is interesting but overall it feels dated, and the graphics are too chuncky as it feel more like a PS1 game.

An extremely solid game!

Strengths: RTS

Weakness: Graphics

I feel sometimes that some games get a bad-rap. When I read about this game, it wasn't highly praised. But, I thought I would check it out anyways. I was glad I did. Sure, it's no Warcraft or anything. But, it is a very good console real-time strategy game. You play the role as a goblin clan leader. Your king (or whatever) was brutally murdered and you go to the other clan leaders to unite....

Goblin Commander

Strengths: Honestly the only thing I would call a strength for this game is its cover

Weakness: Everything

I'm not usually one who knocks a game. But this is one of the dumbest games I have ever played in my entire life. The graphics look as if they were made for a console 10 years ago.The music is terrible and the gameplay is horrendous. If you like these kinds of games maybe you'll like it. But I usually like these kinds of genres and I despise it. DO US ALL A FAVOR, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde

Strengths: Real Time Strategy game play on Xbox, decent sound and graphics, control legions of monsters, conquer the world

Weakness: Long dialogue cutscenes involving goblin gibberish and subtitles, no online or link cable support

If you're a PC player, you're used to having plenty of quality RTS games to choose from, but on the home consoles (especially Xbox), your options are somewhat more limited. Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde provides a visually pleasing but less complex option for RTS genre fans. You lead an army of monsters against similar odd creatures in your quest to rule the world. The story doesn't really...

Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde (xbox)

Speaking from personal experience, few things are more frustrating from a game developer's perspective than reading a negative review from a critic who doesn't get it. This means that Ron and Chris Millar, the lead designers of Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde, are two very frustrated individuals right now.

Goblin Commander: Unleash The Horde

Our story is not one of providence … not one of divinity or evolution from the primordial slime. Those stories we leave for the humans. Created by the human Fraziel, originally there were five goblins who served as laborers for what would be the Great Machine, a contraption designed to bring them great power. But in the passage of time, more goblins were created and the clans grew. They...

Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde (xbox)

It's no secret that real-time strategy fans have been searching for quality entries in the console market for what seems like forever. As despite the fact that some of the genre's most heralded and inspirational titles enjoyed an early existence on the platform, the last five years or so has seen RTS software flourish on the PC instead -- Leaving set-top boxes languishing about in mediocrity....
