Amplitude

Strengths: The best Rhythm game not made by Bemani, sweet online mode, downloadable/shareable remixes

Weakness: Could use more tracks

This is hands down one of the best music games I have ever played. If you enjoyed Frequency one bit, you'll love Amplitude. This can get quite difficult for the rhythmically challenged, but it will do wonders for your hand-eye coordination. Not really much to say about this except I love it and you should too. Here's the games songlist, all playable in multiple difficulties and for you to remix...

Great Music game

Strengths: Great music, and also good variety: techno, rock, punk, etc.

Weakness: There's no sequal yet :(

The sequal to the amazing Frequency, Amplitude is a music game fan's dream come true. The music selection works perfectly with the gameplay, which has you hitting notes on a trippy track to a beat, and once you clear part of a track, you move on to the next one. The cool thing is, each part of the "track" is a part of the music, like vocals, bass, electric guitar, etc. So, as you play and rack up...

Amplitude

Strengths: Very cool game for those who like the music game genre (Dance Dance Revolution, Mad Maestro)

Weakness: Not as physically fulfilling as DDR, songs aren't as great as in DDR. Very hard to use a DDR pad on. Somewhat annoying at times (not incredibly easy to master the beat/rhythm)

For those of you out there who love music type games...this game if for you if you cannot afford/exercise. I would definitely reccommend DDR as the best music type game out there (perhaps Taiko Drum Master and Donkey Kongo are somewhat a challenge to this) but for a PS2 controller based game, this beat Mad Maestro by a mile. While its not as fun as DDR, its not as hard or terrible as Mad Maestro....

Amplitude (PS2)

Strengths: Online capable, offbeat graphics, different gameplay

Weakness: A bit laggy online

Amplitude is a rhythm/music game for the PS2. It uses the PS2 controller to do actions in tune to the music, like DDR, though without the dance pad. It's a bit odd looking, though different, and it's fun working through the songs. It's playable though split-screen multiplayer, as well as online, though the online play is a bit laggy. For music/rhythm fans, who aren't DDR fans, this one should be...

Amplitude

Strengths: Superb graphics Great sounding Easy to learn, hard to master

Weakness: Iffy soundtrack Buggy online

Amplitude, Harmonix's second PS2 game and the sequel to 2001's Frequency, provides a tool to make music wrapped up in a game. There are 4 difficulty levels and 26 incredibly varied songs, giving something for everyone. This game is incredibly easy to learn, only 3 buttons play notes, one button uses powerups, and left and right move the ship. The game sports incredible graphics along with Dolby...

Amplitude

Strengths: Lots of good tunes Online Play Unique Genre of game Editable tracks

Weakness: Not too many - not as many songs as I would have liked.

Having bought this game right after buying a new slim PS2 was good timing. Since the new model includes a network adapter, I could jump right on and play with other Amplituder's online. Of course, having never played the game, i was blown out of the water since most of them played on INSANE mode, but it was a good taste of what kind of action I could be getting myself into. This game can...

Amplitude

Amplitude is a very unique game combined with music/rhythm, puzzle and party genres. Its very much like DDR on crack with better music, and more skill attributed with quick reflexes and hand-eye coordination. There's multiple areas to the game and tons of replay value. For even more fun, pick up the prequel Frequency. Both games can be found new for around $18 or so. Enjoy!

Amplitude

Strengths: Easy controls and good selection of licenced music. Tripped-out excellent graphics

Weakness: Music will not appeal to everyone. Too difficult at the end of the game.

This is an addictive game and an ideal party game. There are many interesting powerups and the player icon "FreQ" is detailed and and interesting looking. The addition of the training mode to this game is essential and the first game "Frequency" did not have any training mode and was hard to get started. Features like the "auto Blaster" really help out new player complete levels that they might...

Amplitude

Strengths: Mostly Good music, Impoves on Frequency.

Weakness: Some of the music doesn't really fit in or work well.

Another great music game in the same vein as Frequency. The music this time around is more poppy than the last game, which some people might like more. I preferred the music in the first game (frequency) better but to each their own. Instead of have tracks arranged in a circle like the first game (frequency), the tracks are now just arranged from left to right not connecting the first and last...

Amplitude

Strengths: Addictive, trance-like music game. Better than Frequency overall. Music more varied.

Weakness: Gets even harder than Frequency

If you like Frequency, this game is everything and more. For those unfamiliar with the concept, Amplitude is like a cross between a music game and Tempest or Stun Runner. The idea of the game is to go through a set of tunnels that contain elements of a song. Rotate to one part of the tunnel, you can add the drum beats to the song. Rotate to another, you can add the vocals or the bass. You press...

Amplitude

The day I received Amplitude, I sat at my Playstation 2 and played for four hours straight. Through burning eyes I had finished normal mode. Now, a few days later, I’ve almost completed Brutal, and have only completed about three songs on Insane. They’ve done it again – the good people over at Harmonix and Sony have released another addicting rhythm game for the Playstation 2. The first one...

Amplitude (ps2)

While Bemani fever quieted down a few years ago, the popularity of console-based music games such as Parappa the Rapper simultaneously slipped under the radar too. Recent innovative and sometimes brilliant games such as Rez, Guitaroo-Man and even to a certain extent Music Maestro sold poorly, sending the message to developers to quit their music-making ways for now, and thus directing the small...

Amplitude (ps2)

Considering my beefy collection of imported rhythm/music games and their related peripherals into consideration, I am either quite fond of the genre or have an unhealthy appreciation for Taiwanese-made facsimiles of musical instruments. It's no surprise then that I was thrilled to get my paws on Frequency, the first U.S.-developed rhythm/music game which shipped back in November 2001. Alas, after...
