Professor Layton

Strengths: Great puzzles tying a mystery together

Weakness: Some puzzles are near impossible

Professor Layton is a fantastic new series from RPG experts Level 5 (Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy) that Nintendo was kind enough to bring over to the US this year. With two more games to follow in the trilogy (already confirmed for release here), puzzle fans will be more than satisfied with the challenge provided hour after hour by the Professor and his pupil.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Strengths: Great set of puzzles wrapped up in a stylish presentation and story

Weakness: N/A

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is basically a puzzle game. However, it is encased in a point and click adventure with an excellent story. To progress in the story you must solve various puzzles (some required and some optional). The puzzles themselves are found using the stylus in a point-and-click adventure fashion. You can also find hint tokens that you can use to unlock clues about...

Best collection of puzzle games

Strengths: Great puzzles and riddles

Weakness: some clues are hard to understand

This game contains the best entertaining puzzles and riddles to solve. The game has a great plot story so you can entertain yourself with the puzzles along with the mystery of the plot. The games has almost 135 puzzles to solve and the best thing is you have to look for it. Must solve puzzle to read review.

Strengths: Lots of puzzles. Most not too hard but can stump you for a minute or two.

Weakness: Some of the puzzles are repetative or common.

Prof. layton is a good game at what it does. It presents a series of brainteasers, riddles, logic equations, misdirection, and just plain puzzlers to do, well anything. Wnat to crossa door? Puzzle. Want to ask for directions? Puzzle. Waht to buy a glazed ham? Puzzle. While some of the puzzles are old, and others repetative, in generall they're fairly balanced and not two hard. I can complese most...

Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS)

Strengths: Challenging puzzles, great storyline, impressive graphics

Weakness: None apparent

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the story of Professor Layton, who visits a village that is brimming to the top with puzzles of all types and sizes. The puzzles range in challenge from easy to extremely hard, and with each puzzle solved opens up more of the storyline of the village. The game looks great and is challenging from beginning to end, and it a fantastic and unique game for...

Adventure + Puzzle = ?

Strengths: Strong story and characters, lots of great puzzles

Weakness: A few lame puzzles

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an excellent game that combines two genres flawlessly. At once both a brain trainer type of game and text-adventure style game, Layton succeeds with charming graphics and music, likable characters, and dozens of great puzzles. The only flaw is that some of the puzzles are lame, though they make up a small fraction of the 120 included. Highly recommended.

Professor Layton

Strengths: Creative puzzles, appealing graphics

Weakness: Storyline can feel forced

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an excellent collection of brain teasers wrapped up in a point and click style adventure game. There is a good variety of puzzles that range from minor math based puzzles to logic puzzles. The art style and story are both endearing, but many of the puzzles don't exactly fit smoothly into the progressing story arc. That certainly doesn't take away from...

Fantastic puzzle/adventure game

Strengths: Interesting characters, plot, animation and great puzzles

Weakness: Puzzle difficulty gauge not always accurate

If you like brain teasers or logic puzzles, this is a must buy. The puzzles alone without any additional content would still be highly recommended. As it is, the game wraps these puzzles up in great graphics, fun characters, side quests/item collection and cut scenes- with good voice acting! Occasionally, a puzzle can become frustrating, and hints can be bought with coins. Only once was there a...

Interesting puzzle game

Strengths: Good for people who like solving puzzles and riddles. Good graphics.

Weakness: If you do not like to read stories or solve puzzles and riddles, then the game may seem long for you.

A good game if you like to solve puzzles and riddles. If you like reading stories and don't mind taking the time to solve the various puzzles, then this game is good. If you like fast action and quick results, then this may be a bit too slow for a person to play. Otherwise, the game has nice graphics and can be a pretty fun game when you solve a puzzle. If you get frustrated easily and don't like...

The beginning of eternity, the end of time and space...

Strengths: A lot of puzzle content, fair storyline to tie them together

Weakness: Difficulty of some puzzles, no replayability

Professor Layton is basically one giant box of puzzles. Logic puzzles, word puzzles, spatial puzzles, etc. If you think think of it, it's somewhere in the game. The plot, while interesting is only the plot device to take you from puzzle to puzzle. Solving each one will earn you points as well as items needed to access further content in the game. There are also hint coins hidden throughout, which...

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

I have played every “brain” game made for the Nintendo DS system. Beyond the single-objective goal such as playing chess, this brain-development genre is fun, frustrating and engaging. There have been some great hits, and humbling misses (ahem—“Left Brain Right Brain”). I like being challenged by puzzles and being tested, but I am weary from being lectured by a floating head (a la...
