Contra: Shattered Soldier PS2

Strengths: Its side-scrolling Contra.

Weakness: Difficulty, short, and no spread gun!!!

Contra: Shattered Soldier is a action/side-scrolling shooter for PS2. You play as Bill Rizer and Lucia while killing a ton of alien scum. The game doesn't have powerups for weapons anymore. You start off with the three types of guns, which means no spread gun. How could they make a contra game without a spread gun??? So disappointing. The game could of been great, but they decided to mess around...

Contra: Shattered Soldier PS2

Strengths: Does the old side scolling Contra feel well

Weakness: Short, unforgiving with only 3 continues on normal it's old school difficulty wise

Contra: Shattered Soldier is a 2D side scrolling shooting game just like the old Contras many gamers have grew up with and while it's very much alike it does have some differences. In Shattered Soldier you don't pick up any power-ups instead you start with 3 different weapons that you can switch between and depending on the situation a different weapon may be of better use then the other 2. When...

Contra: Shattered Soldier PS2

Strengths: + 2 player co-op mode + okay, detailed graphics + mindless fun

Weakness: - weak story - VERY difficult - short game

Contra: Shattered Soldier is a throwback to old school gaming. This means you get very few lives, a finite number of continues, very little or no story, all about memorizing the layout of the levels and enemy patterns. Yet despite all this the game is still fun to play. This game is extremely difficult. In Contra, there is no health bar; meaning one hit from an enemy or even just touching the...

.

Strengths: CLASSIC CONTRA ACTION

Weakness: CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT

This game is a throwback to the classic Contra series which was basically run and gun, side scrolling, gun blasting action in which you use unlimited ammunition to blow your alien enemies away. Much of what made the that previous game a classic is retained with this incarnation. One hit will still kill you and you will be inundated with many ,many enemies. You will basically have to memorize...

Classic shooting action!

Strengths: 2 Player co-op mode is very fun. Great graphics, lots of detail.

Weakness: It is too hard and unforgiving at times. Very short.

It is nice to have some classic-style games on the PS2 that are not just ports or reissues. Contra SS is an excellent remake of the original game, with improved graphics and classic gameplay. I also really enjoy multiplayer co-op mode a refreashing changes from all the FPS or RTS games available. It is nice having 3 weapons to choose from as it adds some strategy during the battles but I think I...

Contra: Shattered Soldier PS2

Strengths: Super Side Scrolling Action in 3d You start with 3 default weapons, so no need to get powerups after a death

Weakness: There are no powerups ( they are fun )

Ah Contra. I bought this game as soon as it came out. My friend and I played this on the normal difficulty ( pretty hard ) and died about 1000 times before we finished it. If you remember any of the older titles on NES and SNES, you might recognize some of the boss enemies, they seem to have been re-hashed. However, it is still a fun game, can't beat Contra and snowboarding on one level. Awesome...

Contra: Shattered Soldier PS2

Strengths: Difficulty, 2D Gameplay

Weakness: Sound

This is one of the toughest PS2 games I have played yet. It is a 2D game in the old style Contra games from years past. There aren't many things to unlock, but 2 player co-op play is a lot of fun. This game would be good for you if you enjoy challenging games and if you enjoy 2D style gameplay.

Contra Shattered Soldier

I recently watched an .AVI video called Contra in 15 Minutes in which a hardcore gamer rips through the NES classic in a quarter-hour without losing a single life. At the end of the video, I was left with many thoughts: Those pseudo-3D levels always were lame … that spread gun still rocks … those graphics always were gorgeous … and damn, the gameplay still holds up after fifteen...

Are you looking for a challenge? Was Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts not headache-inducing enough for you? Were you unsatisfied by Maximo, which only made you lose half of the hair on your head? Then Konami has got just the thing you need to help push you over the edge, kiss your family goodbye and say hello to a mental institution. It's not a drug and it's not another Spice Girls CD -- it's Contra...

Contra Shattered Soldier

Contra: Shattered Soldier may be destined to become the most noble commercial failure on PlayStation 2. You see, we love this game, and yet at the same time we know that so many modern gamers will hate it. It does everything wrong when it comes to success in the modern market -- it is well-made in a classic style, it has a tight graphics engine with minimal overdone flash, and it is harder than...
