Beware this is a chat program, not a game. This is not worth the $19.99 price many stores are charging for it. The graphics for a chat program is good. The sounds are also pretty good. Basically, the chat program that is already on the DS is just as good. So I would say avoid this at all cost, unless you have someone to chat with.

An Item Collection Game, with Chat Thrown In.

Strengths: The main purpose of Ping Pals is to have a chat room on your Nintendo DS. The Nintendo DS already comes with PictoChat.

Weakness: It can get boring quickly if you are not playing with someone else.

It can get boring quickly if you are not playing with someone else.The good thing is you can unlock extras by completing mini games or sending a certain number of messages. I would recomend this game if you are going to be playing with friends. Ping Pals is worth no more than $15.

Why would anyone need to own this?

Strengths: Some minigames are fun

Weakness: There is little to do unless you have more than 1 player

The Nintendo DS comes preloaded with PictoChat software so users can communicate with each other. Ping Pals is basically a fancier version of Picto Chat with a few mini games thrown in to the game. There is a collection system in Ping Pals where the user can earn coins to buy accessories for their pal but this mode is not that interesting. Decent, but nothing special

Strengths: Avatars for chatting, minigames for single and multiplayer, single cart multiplayer

Weakness: Not much variety, small on screen keyboard, limited drawing tools, can't mix drawings with typing

As others have said, this is simply a play on Pictochat, which comes imbedded in every DS. Some of the additions, such as Avatars and user upgradeable clothing is nice to personalize the chatting exeprience. And of course, some of the minigames including trivia and guess the number are cool and would have been nice in a free package. However, as it stands, there really isn't much else to it....

Not really a game.

Strengths: Chat with friends and dress your virtual doll-like Ping Pal.

Weakness: DS already comes with similar software.

It's an upgraded, more annoying version of Pictochat. If the DS system didn't already come with Pictochat, then maybe this would have been a neat piece of software. Instead, it is wholly unnessecary. If you know other people that have this, you can use it to chat with each other and show off your avatars. There are a few minigames to play, as well, but don't expect them to hold your attention...

Would you pay extra for something you already have?!

Strengths: Adds color, single/multiplayer mini-games and custom avatar capabilities to your existing DS Pichochat, only one cartridge needed for multiplayer games, clearance priced at some retail stores

Weakness: A $20-$30 Pichochat upgrade, mini-games simple and limited in number, not a whole lot of fun by yourself, not a whole lot of fun with others either, DS Pictochat capabilities great without this

Ping Pals provides you with expanded options (color backgrounds, custom avatar, new single and multiplayer mini-games, etc.) for your DS Pictochat capabilities. If you and several friends use Pictochat a lot, one of you might want want to consider purchasing Ping Pals. The problem with Ping Pals is that it simply upgrades the already excellent Pichochat software included with your DS for free....

Strengths: 1) Extremely cheap. 2) Many more options than built-in Pictochat 3) Many ways to customize your Ping Pal 4) Only one player needs the Game Pak to use the wireless multiplayer function
