Ace Combat 5 (PS2)

Strengths: Lots of unlockable planes, great flight action, nice graphics

Weakness: None apparent

Ace Combat 5 is a great flight action game for the PS2. There's numerous planes to fly, with many more unlockable. The flight action is very enjoyable and great fun, and the whole game looks pretty good. Fans of the past games, as well as any flight action fans, should look this one over.

Awesome flight simulator

Strengths: Graphics, different planes available, variety of missions

Weakness: Unnecessary talking to your squadmates

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It is one of the few games I've picked up that I can't put down, even after I've beaten it. There are so many different planes that you can unlock and use that it becomes difficult to choose because they are all great. The computer AI is great and creates a good challenge. My main complaint is that when you are in the middle of dog-fighting or trying to carryout...

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War

Strengths: Best flight sim on the ps2

Weakness: None that I can see

Ace Combat 5 is, in my opinion, the best flight sim you will find on the ps2. It has excellent characters and story, which will keep you in the edge of your seat as you genuinely grow to care about them. The controls are easy to master, and the difficulty rises at a nice pace. Excellent graphics, as well. If you're into flight sims at all, or just want a good game period, you can't go wrong with...

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War

Strengths: Best flight game on PS2

Weakness: None

first of all the graphcis are amazing, and the soundtrack isn't bad either. The action is fact and fun, and it will leave you breathless. There are also tons of planes to unlock which adds to the replay value. If you like the past Ace Combat this is a must get.

Ace Combat 5

Strengths: good graphics

Weakness: no multiplayer

Ace Combat 5 is the latest game in the Ace Combat series. It has good graphics and game play. You get to pilot over 50 different licensed planes. Overall the game is pretty good.

Ace Combat 5

Strengths: Game play, voice-acting, missions, storyline, plane selection

Weakness: None

Ace Combat 5 is an excellent flight simulator. The graphics are very good and the roar of the jets and the voice acting through your ships radio are exceptional. The storyline, which is mainly explained through the radio by your squad mates, is also very intriguing. Since you play the main character, you are also the squad leader and can give instructions to your teammates (such as attack, use...

rule the skies

Strengths: lots of dialogue, great graphics, great music, lots of missions, arcade mode

Weakness: story is weaker than AC4, some of the dialogue is unnecessary, the gameplay is more of the same

Ace Combat 5 is the latest addition to the great Ace Combat series. The game doesn't really provide many new things to the series. This time, you get to shout commands to your squad such as attack or disperse. I didn't find myself using these commands much of the game though. The game also allows you to do simple "yes/no" replies to your squad during dialogue, which I thought would provide...

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War

Strengths: Great graphics, top notch soundtrack, fun missions, good storyline.

Weakness: Not a realistic flight simulator, not much different from Ace Combat 4.

Namco has always been able to deliver a reliable arcade flight game and fun missions with Ace Combat. The fifth in the series is no different. While the planes don't necessarily control or react like they do in real life (or flight simulation games), they look outstanding and look exactly like their real life counterparts. From the sky, all the environments in the game look photo realistic but...

Ace Combat 5

Strengths: Superb graphics, framerate for PS2

Weakness: Not too much of an improvement over Ace Combat 4

Ace Combat 5 is Namco's semi-realistic fighter plane simulator game. It tries hard to be both a little realistic and yet accessible to novice fliers. Compared to PC flight sims, of course, it is very much an arcade representation. The graphics and framerate on this title are extremely impressive for the Playstation 2, in fact it is probably one of the best demonstrations of pushing the PS2 to its...

Can flight combat simulators really get much better...

Strengths: Solid sound/graphics, FMV cutscenes replace stills, infinite weapons and fuel capacity, plenty of unlockables

Weakness: Unnecessary squad dialog, weak storyline, "more of the same" game play, more arcade than simulator

The Ace Combat series was already the best console arcade/flight simulator series available before Unsung War came out. Ace Combat 5 essentially gives us more of the same game play that critics loved in the previous title along with a few tweaks. Unsung War places a greater emphasis on defense rather than offense. You'll have help too as your computer-controlled teammates do a reasonably good job...

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (ps2)

Namco started an aerial phenomenon with Air Combat on the PSX somewhere around eight years ago. Since then we've seen the long running flight action series move through a few subsequent iterations and onto the more powerful PlayStation 2 hardware. This is where Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies was born in 2001. There's no denying that title's quality just as there is no denying Ace Combat 5: The...

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (ps2)

Even though many aerial dogfighting games have surfaced throughout the years, Namco's Ace Combat series has been peerless in almost every single respect. The previous four games had significant stylistic differences between them even though the basic gameplay mechanics remained unchanged. AC5 feels pretty close to Ace Combat 4 stylistically, although there is a lot more emphasis on the narration...
