Brave Story

Strengths: Fairly standard turn-based RPG with friendship-based twist to combat

Weakness: Linear game design and cliche story means this one doesn't stand out from the crowd

Brave Story is a solid, but not special, role playing game for the PSP. It features all you would expect: turn-based combat against randomly appearing baddies, dungeon crawls alternating with towns with similar shops, non-player characters that have 1 line of dialog for you that is usually related to the next story point, and a handful of fairly tough boss fights. The battles are spiced up...

High Fantasy on PSP

Strengths: Excellent RPG-core elements, great graphics, character designs

Weakness: if you are anti-RPG tradition0type you might say "not that original" but the simple, similar exterior masks complexity and depth which requires patience to uncover

There are few truly original titles on the PSP, especially in the RPG department. Brave Story (no acronym please!) is an excellent new entry with familiar RPG elements yet completed with huge attention to detail, and a dedication to a quality gaming experience throughout. The story is compelling, the characters are interesting and well-developed and the graphics are colorful and painterly. Quick...

Extremely Solid

Strengths: Great graphics, sound, and gameplay.

Weakness: Story starts out slow.

Brave Story is a thoroughly excellent original RPG for the PSP. In a technical sense, everything looks and sounds good, and load times are nonexistent. In terms of gameplay, Brave Story is more like the classic RPGs of yore than today's titles, which is actually a good thing. Easy to pick up and play, and very well-made. Highly recommended for old-school RPG fans.

A classic RPG

Strengths: Great graphics, full big console RPG

Weakness: Limited character customization, Story takes some time to get going.

This is one of the first role playing game on a Handheld the truly plays and feels like a big console RPG, complete with a classic game system similar to Final Fantasy, random encounters and turn based combat. A very welcome addition to the PSP. I found the controls easy to understand and with the multi player combo system it has some welcome strategy added to the combat. The story seems to be a...

Generic RPG

Strengths: good character models, classic rpg gameplay

Weakness: bland environments, repetitive battles

Brave Story is a pretty generic RPG for the PSP. It follows the script of your classic RPG and doesn't offer much variation to make it stand out. There are a handful of side quests and bird battles, so the game can occupy you for quite a while. overall it is a decent game, but there are so many other RPG options on the PSP that would merit consideration before this one.

Brave Story

Strengths: good characters, decent battle system, decent story

Weakness: slightly short

Brave Story is an old school RPG (turn based battle, fantasy setting, etc). It's strength comes in the battle system where you can perform combos with your other members that do a lot of damage. The story is decent and the characters are all great. Good graphics as well. Overall a good game.

A Brave Game

Strengths: Interesting characters. Well done game all around.

Weakness: It's a typical RPG.

Brave Story is a RPG for the PSP that does everything well. It has interesting characters, nce combat, a decent story, and all the trapping syou would expect in a JRPG. But, it doesn't have anything exceptional that makes it stand out. It's Good. But typical of the genre.

BRAVE STORY: NEW TRAVELER

Brave Story: New Traveler begins with the following scenario: Miki (sitting on a bench, enjoying the sun): “Wow! What a beautiful day. I love this kind of weather. See how nice it is to be outdoors for a change?” Tatsuya, glued to his PSP, fails to respond. Miki, getting frustrated: “Hello, Earth to Tatsuya!? Unbelievable! Don’t you do anything besides play video games!? You promised...
