Fun 3rd person RPG

Strengths: Budget priced of late Plenty of intense fights Decent graphics

Weakness: Occasionally irritating puzzles/obstacles

Picked this up for less than $20 recently, have seen it similarly priced a few places now. Excellent blind buy at that price, provided you like 3rd-person shooters. The "glaive" (multi-bladed throwing weapon) is definitely the weapon of choice throughout much of the game. Story line not particularly deep, but there's enough fighting and fun that you are not likely to care.

Dark Sector (XB360)

Strengths: (1) Good graphics (2) Controlling the glaive weapon is fun

Weakness: (1) Aiming is more difficult than it needs to be (2) Lack of feedback on some enemy damage or when you are being damaged yourself (3) A shallow, barely-there story

Dark Sector is a basic third person shooter that borrows heavily from Gears of War's aesthetic and cover system and other elements from other games but fails to implement them well enough to put it in the same pedigree. The glaive weapon is the best thing the game has going for it and when you gain its powers the game becomes more interesting. The main problem with combat is the lack of visual...

Dark Sector Xbox 360

Strengths: Great graphics and atmosphere. Excellent action sequences. Good use of the "Glave" weapon.

Weakness: Confusing storyline, and rather pointless. Some graphical glitches here and there. Could have been more but falls a little short.

I bought this game after all the hype that has been built up over the year(s) this game has been in development and I was pleasantly surprised. I guess the original trailers of this game made it seem like it was going to be a sci-fi thriller sneaking game but this game isn't like that at all. It's more action focused and lets you run and gun but with a cool twist. The new weapon concept of the...

Mediocre FPS

Strengths: Graphics, Glaive

Weakness: Level Design, Gameplay, Repitition

This game is at best a mediocre first person shooter. The graphics are surprisingly good and it has moments where the glaive is implemented in interesting ways and the game really works, but they are offset by bad level design, repetitive enemies and a confusing weapon system.

Glaive and Graphics almost make it a worthwhile...

Strengths: Glaive Weapon, Graphics, Death Animations

Weakness: Linear levels, Cumbersome Melee, Multiplayer

Dark Sector is a an average third-person shooter is limited in its appeal to action gamers. The glaive weapon and graphics are excellent. Mastering the glaive with its slow-motion "aftertouch" is a hoot especially when you get a clean hit on an enemy. There is enough action and gore to satisfy most shooter fans but the overall experience is rather shallow. Multiplayer is as flimsy as the game...

Good, but not great 3rd person shooter

Strengths: Interesting story concept, controls work well, the glaive is a fun weapon, very derivative of Gears of War

Weakness: melee attack and close quarters combat are a bit awkward, cool storyline gets muddy and ultimately falls apart somewhat, very derivative of Gear of War

If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, then Gears of Wear must be feeling quite flattered right about now. To oversimplify, I'd describe Dark Sector as Gears of War meets Resident Evil 4. However, as decent as this game is, it matches neither of those titles in terms of quality or polish. The controls, the cover mechanic, the sprinting, the camera, and come to think of it, almost all...

Dark Sector

Zombie-like creatures. Check. Darkly clad slightly funny looking hero. Check. Mysterious virus that creates monsters out of people. Check. Boomerang of doom. Mega-check. But is Dark Sector worth the play through? All too often within the industry we see a timely trend of games that come along after a new, ground breaking venture explodes onto the scene. Grand Theft Auto is the mother-ship of...
