Description

Dark Cloud is a title that challenges players to not only strategies, battle and solve puzzles, but also to create geographical landscapes using the Georama system. Gamers assume the role of a young boy named Toran on an unforgettable journey of rebirth, revival and hope. Unfortunately an evil demon spirit has been released and has left destruction in its wake and Toran must harness the spirit of those destroyed to rebuild the lands in time for an epic confrontation. True to life graphics should mesmerize gamers as they create villages complete with houses, hills, churches, volcanoes, and streams; they'll even be able to control the weather.

Dark Cloud

Strengths: + good graphics + building your own cities + charming characters

Weakness: - repetitive gameplay - hard - dungeons

Dark Cloud is so charming and reminiscent of old 16 bit that it's hard not to like it. But ultimately the repetitive dungeons and the difficulty of the game sinks in and almost ruins the game. Remember that this game came out as a launch title sometime in 2001 or so the graphics are somewhat outdated. Models aren't very detailed but they're still great to look at mostly because of the character...

Dark Cloud

Strengths: it's so unique thats why it got such a high rating for me.

Weakness: There is slight repitition.

This game stands out like an elephant in a pack of mice. Though some said it would be the "zelda killer" id agree BUT for everyone else they would laugh if i said said it. The idea about building your own surroundings is so obvious it should have been games such as zelda. But it wasnt,so Dark Cloud got it.Now the flaws, there isnt too many but theres one major on repitition. The dungeons get boring....

Dark Cloud

Strengths: Good fighting system, kool weapon advancment system.

Weakness: Mediocre story line, bad and repetitive dungeons.

When I first played Dark Cloud, I was totally involved. The enemies, the fighting system, and the weapon advancment were all excellent. 2 weeks later, it's lost it's charm. The weapon system is good, but not enough. The storyline is this: the "Dark Genie" attacks, but the faerie king (what a lousy name) somehow puts away the towns into "Atla" spheres, but they end up in dungeons. So, Toan must...

Dark Cloud

Strengths: okay graphics

Weakness: bad plot, horrible dungeons, too hard, nothing of slight interest

Don't buy this game. There's nothing special about it and it only gets harder. I gave up on this game because it was so bad. A waste of money.

Too Difficult

Strengths: cute graphics

Weakness: very, very, very hard

I really wanted to like this game but the developers just made it too dificult. Instead of a simple action rpg, they incorporated a cumbersome health meter for weapons also so that everytime you hit an enemy, the weapon degrades. Yes this makes it a bit more realistic but this is a game! I couldn't stand it and got bored/frustrated after playing through nine dungeons (still in the first level)....

DARK CLOUD

Strengths: excellent game play; good enemy variety and sound effects

Weakness: only a limited number of background songs during the game; . no voice acting ; character dialog is in text form ; repetitive dungeons; weapons will break after while

This game is just like Zelda in the exploration and dungeon quests and like the Super Nintendo game ActRaiser in terms of the overhead world building; you will fight in dark dungeons and kill monsters in order to collect treasure; you will search and look for Atla spheres to further enhance your characters abilities; combat is similar to the Zelda games with a lock-on and strafe strategy to...

Definitely Not the Zelda Killer

Strengths: Novel world re-building elements. Variety of upgradeable weapons.

Weakness: Almost no character development whatsoever. Broken weapons. Thirst.

For one of the first generation RPG’s on the PS2, it was a good try. The game is about the recently released Dark Genie destroying the world but not before the remnants of the world are saved and encapsulated in spheres by the powers that be. You are Toan and it is your task to re-build the world as it was from these spheres. As you travel through the land re-building towns and landscape, you...

Wasted Potential

Strengths: reminiscent of 16-bit roleplaying games, charming characters, building your own town

Weakness: weapons break if you don't fix them constantly which slows down progression of the game to a crawl.

Dark Cloud is a game of wasted potential. Reviews liken it to Zelda but actually it's very similar to another outstanding 16-bit Super Nintendo game, Soul Blazer. The story starts out with a general bent on power, releasing an evil genie who destroys the world. Before everything is destroyed though, the fairy king transported all the towns and people into magical spheres. Now it's your job to go...
