Champions redux...good or bad?

Strengths: Addictive hack and slash "rpg"/action game. Great graphics for the PS2, cool weapons and items to keep coming back to.

Weakness: For a sequel, not much different from the original Champions. Still very buggy in some areas and levels. Boring story(?) for an RPG.

First off, I personally really enjoyed this game and have easily put in more than 20 hours and almost played through the game twice. I should mention that I was also a fan of the original Champions of Norrath game. With that being said though, although still incredibly addictive and enjoyable, Champions: Return to Arms, as a sequel is a bit disappointing. First the good. Much of the combat and...

Champions:Return to Arms (PS2)

Strengths: Very good game play with added features such as additional characters, new attributes, and new better items. Great story line so far and brings back some familiar faces and boards from the first game.

Weakness: Has some bugs that need to be worked out. When 2 or more players are playing the screen jumps while in the store mode.

This is the sequel to the first Champions of Norrath game. Has good game play with added features such as additional characters, new attributes, and new better items. Great story line so far and brings back some familiar faces and boards from the first game. Drawbacks are that it has some bugs that need to be worked out. When 2 or more players are playing the screen jumps while in the store mode.

Champions: Return to Arms

Strengths: Four player co-op, free online play for up to 4-player co-op, two new character classes, new spells and items for all characters, can import your old character from Champions of Norrath

Weakness: Very similar to Champions of Norrath, still has some pop-up and graphical glitches, only two additional spells/abilities open for each class leaves very little for imported characters, 80 level limit

If you liked Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Baldur's Gate, or Diablo, this is the game for you. Basically, it's a hack and slash 3/4 perspective dungeon crawl with some minor RPG elements. There are a multitude of weapons and items to find/create/use and a terrific spells/abilities system that allows you allocate points while levelling up. Of course, you'll also have four basic attributes which you can...

Almost as good as the original

Strengths: Choice between good and evil, more items to collect, more baddies to destroy

Weakness: Nothing you haven't already seen/played dozens of times before

Champions: Return to Arms is an excellent hack and slash adventure; it has everything that fans of the genre love, including several classes (seven in all), a very high level cap (it'll take you four to five playthroughs of the game to max your character), and an interesting set of moral choices (you can play as either the good guys or the demon guys). The problem with the game is that there is...

Champions: Return To Arms

Strengths: Fun hack and slash multiplayer, ability to be good or evil, online play

Weakness: Forgetable story

Champions: Return To Arms is the sequel to Champions Of Norrath for the Playstation 2. The developers basically went with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality because not too much has changed since the first game. Return To Arms is a very good hack and slash RPG though. Anyone familiar with the genre will enjoy this game as there are lots of dungeons to explore, treasures to find, and...

For hardcore gamers only

Strengths: multiplayer, sharp graphics, lots of characters/races to choose from.

Weakness: no story, repetitive gameplay

Return to Arms is suppose to be a sequel to Champions of Norrath, but instead it's more like 1.5, if you can even call it that. The main problem that I have with the game is that there isn't a story at all. Literally there isn't a story - you just go from level to level fighting waves of lesser bad guys and then the level boss. Without a story, it just made the already repetitive hack n slash...

Champions: Return to Arms

Strengths: Excellent sound and graphics

Weakness: Very little improvements over predecessors

I loved the first game of the series "Champions of Norrath", and this sequel was able to quench my thirst for more of the same type of gameplay. "Champions: Return to Arms" allows you to import characters from the previous game, provided you've got them saved on a memory card. In addition, 2 new characters are available to play. New side quests and the arena mode break up the monotony of this...

Champions Of Norrath: Return To Arms (PS2)

Strengths: 4-player co-op play, online co-op play, additional character classes

Weakness: Somewhat buggy

Champions Of Norrath: Return To Arms is the sequel to the first title. Characters from the first game can be imported into the second one, or new characters, with two additional classes, can be created. Up to 4 players can play co-op at the same time, or up to 4 players on-line can also play co-op. The game engine has been improved on a little bit, though there are some buggy moments. Hack and...

Champions: Return to Arms

Strengths: Game play, sound, graphics

Weakness: Slowdown in some areas

Champions Return to Arms is very similar to its predecessor. It is a hack-and-slash type RPG game that pits you in control of a character that you create from a specific class of available races. If you have played through the first game, it will enable you to continue your adventures with a character you have already created from the memory card. The game play is solid and the graphics are...

Same as the First

Strengths: Hack and Slash goodness. Can import characters from Champions of Norrath. Variety of job types (Barbarian, Archer, Cleric, etc.). Different types of "mini" games. PvP action.

Weakness: Still buggy and glitchy. Lame story. Level 80 cap. Good vs. evil story hardly had any affect.

Champions Return to Arms is fun hack and slash game that follows the same formula as its predecessor. With the addition of two new classes (Tiger and Lizard) and some new spells this game can almost be classified as an expansion pack rather than a separate game. The addition of the "Medallion round" and PvP gameplay helped me forget the nonsensical story. The bad story and bugs dragged the...

Champions: Return to Arms

What can I say? I’m a sucker for the hack-and-slash RPG action games that I was introduced to when the first Diablo was released on the PC and finally on the PSOne. There’s just something about jumping into a swarm of enemies, swinging your sword or unleashing a volley of fireballs into a mass of monsters that’s just so enjoyable that fans like myself keep coming back for more and more....

Champions: Return to Arms

There must be something in a gamer's DNA in which is encoded the desire to rip through countless hordes of enemies. That would explain the appeal of the hack'n'slash games that have a link to the past that is Gauntlet. It would also explain why developer Snowblind has been so thorough about taking this basic idea to its furthest extent with Champions: Return to Arms. But what needs to happen now...
