A worthwhile game for Final Fantasy fans

Strengths: Great graphics and production values, engaging and challenging game, lots to do and see.

Weakness: Lack of save points adds needless difficulty. Story among the more basic in the Final Fantasy series

This game is a gift for Final Fantasy fans. Previously unreleased here, this game has been modernized, making it a new experience for most American gamers. This is a great RPG, with engaging combat, a terrific job system, and loads of fun. It's probably best for old-school RPG fans, as it requires some levelling up, random battles, and design elements that may feel antiquated. But it is still...

Another notch in the DS's lipstick case

Strengths: solid old school RPG with updated DS graphics

Weakness: might not be your bag baby...it is old school.

Start with a pinch of lovable characters and add a dash of compelling story.Don't forget to mix in a tablesppon of unique leveling (FF III job system) and a cup of solid magic spells, cook for one hour and you've got a beautiful RPG. Thus is the case with FF III. THis is traditional final fantasy when it really came into its own as a series. If that's your style, then you'll love it. If not, then...

Final Fantasy III

Strengths: Excellent port of Japan-only NES game with amazing new graphics for the DS

Weakness: Very difficult

Final Fantasy III is a conversion of an old NES Final Fantasy games that was never released in the U.S. As such, the story is new to U.S. gamers. Also, in the process, Square Enix has updated the graphics and produced one of the best looking games the DS has to offer. This is particularly true for the enemy monster designs which have nice detail and animations. The game is excellent and plays...

FFIII

Strengths: new style, story

This Final Fantasy game never came out in the United States until now. This is also the first FF game for the Nintendo DS. The graphics are pretty good. There are lots of jobs and classes you can choose. The CG cutscene in the beginning is beautiful. It looks good I tell you. The story is good. This is a great FF game on the go. If you want RPG for the DS, get this game.

How can you have three "Final" Fantasies?

Strengths: Updated graphics. Great and lengthy story. Works well in the DS. A Gaming Classic.

Weakness: A little dated. Random Battles

Final Fantasy III was never released to the US. that is, not until now. And it's a classic of gaming greatness. A lot of the long running conventions to be seen in later Final Fantasy games started in this one. It has a lengthy stoyr, a good cast of characters, and is great fun. Of course, it is a game that's many years old. So it has some of the negative conventions of the genre. Random battles...

A Nice Treat to Round Out the Final Fantasy...

Strengths: Not a port but a remake, finally get to play the real FFIII, great old-school graphics done new-school

Weakness: Still feels dated in almost all aspects

The original Final Fantasy III was actually FFVI. FFIII was never released outside Japan and eluded the rush of Square Enix ports until now. Instead of a port, FFIII is actually a remake supervised by the original director. In story, FFIII is closer to its predecessor than its successor. In difficulty, the reverse is true. The story focuses heavily on Crystals. The main character, Luneth, falls...

Final Fantasy III (Nintendo DS)

Strengths: gameplay, old school PPG goodness

Weakness: Dated

Final Fantasy III is a remake of the original game on the Nintendo DS system. It still has the strong feeling of an old school PRG but with updated DS graphics. Final Fantasy III features a great RPG gameplay (a bit of old school in the look and feel), a excellent job system and battle control. Graphics is updated for the DS but sub-par comparing to other DS games available. Final Fantasy III is...

FF3

Strengths: final fantasy, many jobs, fun

Weakness: graphics ok

This is the first time ever Final Fantasy 3 was released in the US. Every other final fantasy has had at least 2 different versions released in america. FF3 is classic final fantasy with 3d graphics. The job system is a lot of fun and adds variety to the game. The story is decent too. Overall, pretty good game.

New Age meet Old School Level Grinding

Strengths: Preserves the original game well, makes it easier than the original, adds extra online content, redone graphics

Weakness: Unsubstantial story, roughly 50% of your time is spent leveling up your characters

As many changes as they made to the game for modern times, it still falls far short of any enjoyment. I spent probably 10+ hours of just leveling up to progress in the story, which dulled the game experience completely, considering I beat the game in a little more than 20 hours. Even worse, the battles were paced fairly slow so I would just be sitting down ready to fall asleep while playing the...

Nice way to revamp an old classic

Strengths: Hours and hours and hours of gameplay; beautiful visuals; very rewarding gaming experience

Weakness: Lack of save points makes for a difficult game

All that needs to be said is that this game is part of the Final Fantasy series. How can you knock it? You know it's going to be an instant classic. And this edition on the DS certainly doesn't disappoint. It's a beautiful remake of a classic. It's long, involved, and rewarding. The only way they could've improved this game would've been to add more save points. The lack of save points makes the...

Final Fantasy III Review

It’s easy to wonder why Square-Enix insists on continuing to rehash their older Final Fantasy games instead of creating original Final Fantasy titles for the portable systems, but when the end results are this outstanding it’s hard to complain. They basically took one of the best games of the series and updated it in a way that greatly exceeded anything anyone could have expected from the...

Final Fantasy III

For those gamers who had fallen in love with the Final Fantasy series since the much-loved Final Fantasy VII on the original PlayStation, it was hard to track down earlier games in the franchise seeing as the series made its North American debut on the NES. Thankfully, the original games have recently found a home on the Game Boy Advance (if you haven’t bought Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of...
