Product Details of Star Fox Command

Description

Star Fox Command lets you hop into your fight through a unique branching storyline of missions, all rendered in gorgeous 3-D. This game brings a whole new strategic element to the series, with a commander's view of the mission. Using the touch screen, players can draw the routes they and their teammates will take. Battle the enemies they encounter as they take over bases and strategically advance across the map. Players can also blow their friends out of the sky, as they dogfight 8 players over a local wireless connection -- or take on 4 players from around the world on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Starfox Command

Strengths: Smooth graphics and gameplay

Weakness: weird controls

Played through the first couple of missions and so far, it's been pretty easy so far. I'm not a hard core gamer so for those who want more of a challenge maybe disappointed in the early portion of the game. Graphics and gameplay is smooth and straight forward. However, I found the controls a bit wonky. I haven't quite mastered the controls and sometimes I do a barrel roll at the wrong times....

Take Ciommand

Strengths: Attractive, Okay Control Scheme, good gameplay.

Weakness: Limited multi, Okay Control Scheme.

Star Fioox command is a game best described as above average. It looks good, plays well, and has some nice single player gameplay. There are two aspects. The flight sim and the strategy portion. The downsides is that the multiplayer isn't that engaging. Also, I don't really know if the controls are good ro bad. Sometimes, because of the difficulty of the game, they can seem frustrating. But I...

A decent time-waster

Strengths: worthwile graphics, gameplay, modular so that small bits can be playable at a time, cute references to past versions, four player internet play, lots of options

Weakness: Controls a bit awkward, a little easy/repetitive

This is only my second DS game; I picked it up because I had fleeting encounters with the Starfox series earlier in my gaming days and because the product had decent reviews and was on sale. I'm satisfied with the purchase. The storyline is still pretty interesting, and with 9 different paths there is plenty to choose from. The graphics are smooth and appear to make good use of the DS hardware....

Star Fox loses some of his twinkle

Strengths: Same great characters, familiar piloting roles, and looks nice

Weakness: Almost everything else

Trying to bring back Fox's glory from his snes and N64 days is not an easy task. Command is a melting pot of old action with advance wars-ish tactics, and new DS controls and it doesn't succeed in any area. I don't like the implementaion of the stylus in the action parts of the game. Advance wars it is not. I'll take my snes Fox any day of the week. It only lasted in my DS for about 2 hours...

Star Fox Command

Strengths: Fun Star Fox adventure for your DS. Multiple branching story encourages replay. NO ground missions that hampered the last Gamecube title. Strategy element added to mission planning.

Weakness: Stylus control of flying a bit difficult to get used to.

Star Fox Command is the first Nintendo DS entry in the long-running series. It is an excellent game that features all Arwing flying missions (people who hated the on-foot missions in the Gamecube Star Fox Assault will be please by that). Each mission is enclosed in a surprising strategy-game map overview where you must guide Fox and his allies towards enemy ships and missiles, trying to destroy...

Star Fox Command (DS)

Strengths: (1) Fun gameplay due to the unique control style made possible by the DS (2) Good portability: game is broken up into nice, bite sized segments

Weakness: (1) Control can be lacking when accurate, last minute steering is needed (which is not very often) (2) Not typical Star Fox levels, this is a much more open world type game

Star Fox Command is a welcome debut for the Star Fox team on the Nintendo DS. First of all, it offers a fun way to play with unique steering and maneuvering controls mapped to the touchscreen. I really enjoyed steering my ship with the stylus and performing loops, spins, speed bursts, etc. by gesturing and tapping different areas of the touchscreen. However, this unique method of control also...

Neat! But man I hate those missles!

Strengths: Starfox with neat strategy play! Good stlyus control!

Weakness: Missles! Very unforgiving game! Also, Missles!

This game is a very neat idea. It mixes a Starfox shooter with battle stratigey! On a mission, enemies are on the map. You have to direct your fighters to intercept the bad guys and then shoot them down in a dogfight level. It gets very interesting when you have several teammates to direct at once! The bad part of this game is that it is very unforgiving. If one little bit of your plan goes...

I Miss the Rails!

Strengths: Neat story mode with multiple endings, cool strategy aspect.

Weakness: Control scheme is iffy and sometimes frustrating.

I bought the original SNES StarFox at launch, and haven't touched one until buying StarFox Command. Command introduces a lot of interesting ideas to the space-based shooter, including nice strategy elements and WiFi gameplay, but the control scheme is bit too frustrating overall. In addition, the on-rails gameplay has been replaced by free-roaming gameplay, making the task of targeting certain...

Best Star Fox since 64

Strengths: Only flying missions

Weakness: Controls could use some refinement, strategic goals are occasionally unclear

Since Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo 64, recent releases (Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault) have been disappointing. The inclusion of on-foot missions were less than stellar, in particular. Star Fox Command gives you none of that. In its place, you are presented with half traditional Star Fox, and half turn-based strategy. Both aspects work, though both could use some tweaking.

Fun at first, but not worth it in the long run

Strengths: Great graphics, mutiple endings, surprisingly mature storyline

Weakness: Odd game design choices that destroy the game in the long run

Star Fox on the DS had a great deal of potential to it. The portable nature of the system with less emphasis on graphics had fans hoping the game would be a return to the SNES or N64 era of Star Fox games. However, it wasn't this at all. The game does have some of the best 3D graphics I've ever seen on the DS. The unusual focus on storyline for this type of game is actually not bad and more...
