Missiles! Laser! Multiple! Multiple!

Strengths: Provides all the Gradius games through the years.

Weakness: No additional bells and whistles.

I've always been a fan of the gradius games in its many incarnations and this was a must-buy for me. Despite loving the game in arcades, I was never all that good at it and it does me good to be able to play it now without having to have a roll of quarters handy. The gradius collection basically provides you with 4 versions of the game throughout the years. It's emulated more or less exactly from...

Gradius Collection

Strengths: faithful to the originals plus save anywhere

Weakness: not up to today's graphics (duh!)

This is a must have for anyone who was a fan of the shoot-em-ups. This compilation contains 5 versions of Gradius and it’s a great look at how Gradius evolved over that time period. Graphics and music are unchanged from their arcade versions, so don’t go looking for today’s level of graphics. However, the later versions still look pretty good given the time period when they were developed....

Old School Shoot 'Em Up Action Done Right

Strengths: All Game Ported Perfectly

Weakness: More Extras Would Have Been Nice

Gradius Collection is a collection of five Gradius games From Gradius I to IV and Gradius Gaiden which came out for the Playstation but was never released in the US before. Gradius Collection is an arcade port of all of the games except for Gradius Gaiden which was only on Playstation so it's a port of the Playstation version. Konami did a perfect job of porting all of the games and even added in...

One Quarter at a time

Strengths: Challenge

Weakness: choppy framerates; dminishes the power of the PSP - where is the WiFi at the very least

Sony's mandated that the PSP should be playstation 2 graphical games with the critical benefit of portability and unique PSP features like Wi-Fi. Retro games are the niche area where it is hard to rationalize bring a franchise on to a portable gaming platform where the advancement predates the contextual machines where the retro games grew up. Gradius is an example of a perfect franchise that...

Gradius Collection

Strengths: Five great shooters on one disc

Weakness: Gradius V is missing

Gradius Collection is a great compilation of five of the classic side-scrolling shooters. This collection includes the first four games in the series and the formerly Japanese exclusive Gradius Gaiden. All the games have been ported excellently and the controls on the PSP work well for a 2D game like this. Thankfully, there is also a way to adjust the difficulty which makes this a little bit more...

Gradius Collection

Strengths: Classic Gradius games

Weakness: Single player only

Gradius Collection takes 5 classic Gradius games (radius, Gradius II, Gradius III, Gradius IV and Gradius Gaiden) and emulates them on the Sony PSP platform. The only Gradius game missing in this collection is Gradius V. These Gradius games are essentially fast paced, 2D side-scrolling shooters that are geared with difficult challenges. Level of difficulty can be tuned in this collection for PSP....

Great shooter collection

Strengths: Gradius is awesome

Weakness: Gradius V is not in it

This collection of sidescrolling shooters provides countless hours of challenging entertainment. This PSP title collects the Konami classic Gradius games (but not 5!) in one package for easy consumption wherever you feel to roam.

Gradius Collection PSP

Strengths: 5 classic games in one portable collection

Weakness: No multiplayer

Gradius Collection is a collection of 5 classic Gradius games for the Playstation Portable. The games are Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, Gradius IV and Gradius Gaiden. The last game was never released in North America before. These classic 2D shooting games are fast action packed and can be challenging to some players. Gradius Collection

Strengths: Perfect emulation of 5 classic Gradius games

Weakness: These games are HARD (will be a strength for many people). No multiplayer modes.

The Gradius Collection on the PSP contains near-perfect ports of the following classic Gradius games: Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, Gradius IV, and Gradius Gaiden. These sidescrolling shooter games were always on the difficult side. The PSP version allows for tuning of the difficulty, which is a nice feature indeed. The gem of the collection is Gradius Gaiden, which was made for the original...

A great compilation with some lost classics

Strengths: Five games with two of those never released in North America

Weakness: Only five games for $30

This game includes some of the greatest SHUMPS to hit the arcades in North America as well as some that didn't. The enemies in these games are nice and varied, as they range from enemy squadrons, to cannons, to even Moai Heads. The bosses are also impressive since they include a firebird, a three-headed dragon, and the classic Core-Fighter. Of course, these games are friendly to everyone, for...

Gradius Collection

All systems go. Twenty years of "intense shooting action" locked and loaded. The weapon: a PSP disc by the name of Gradius Collection. The ammunition: five games from the series' past. Better run for cover, because this game is sniping and it's already hit the target. Consisting of Gradius I through IV, plus the illusive, never-before-played Gradius Gaiden (a game that was not released outside of...
