PHANTOM DUST

Strengths: great strategy and gameplay, excellent xbox Live support for online matches

Weakness: boring and tedious storyline

PHANTOM DUST is an action/ strategy hybrid exclusive for the xbox. The gameplay can be best described as a mix of an action shooter and the strategy of card deck building as in Magic the Gathering. But instead of creature cards, u acquire skills, both offensive and defensive, to use in arena duels against similarly powerful individuals. There are 340 skills to collect in all, and they can be...

Phantom Dust for Xbox

Strengths: (1) Released at bargain price, even cheaper now (2) Decent graphics

Weakness: (1) Can no longer play online

Phantom Dust is decent as a card-battler/action role playing game. The story is well presented but somewhat contrived and cliched. The gameplay is based on battles in arenas of varying size, usually against one opponent. The limited scope of the encounters was not very interesting to me. I would have preferred if the levels were more connected and allowed for exploration and more variety in...

Phantom Dust

Strengths: Released at only $20, the game can be found at Gamestop/EB Games for a mere fiver. Is also 360-compatible.

Weakness: Characters have amnesia (groan)

If you looked at the box, you might be tempted to throw it out a window, but danger Will Robinson! Phantom Dust is actually a good game! Who would've imagined a card game could be so much fun? (Sorry, Magic: the Gathering fans.) Earth is a wasteland, and survivors suffer from amnesia. Your character is found in a frozen capsule, and - surprise of all surprises - has some innate gift to slay...

Good budget title

Strengths: Lots of replay value, addicting.

Weakness: need online to get the most out of the game.

Phantom Dust is a great budget title. It can be found for pretty cheap now and it is a good game. Basically your character collects cards in order to gain different powers to battle with. You can earn these cards by defeating different enemies on the surface. The main problem is that many of these powers can only be obtained using the online service Xbox Live. Since the original Xbox is just...

Never got the attention it deserved

Strengths: Great combination rpg action, depth and item collection

Weakness: learning curve, no longer an online presence

Phantom Dust was released in early 2005 at the $20 price point. Added to this was a robust online component that provided an amazing replay value. The game has great style and graphics when it came out. The only problem was it took some getting used to the controls and the tutorial early levels are not as instructive as they could be. The real shame though is that picking up this game now, the...

Phantom Dust Review

Strengths: Gameplay

Weakness: Graphics

Phantom Dust is a mixture of many different game genre's, but could best be described as a RPG. It is very fun and it is nice to have something different then the normal RPGs that are on the market. The game doesn't look all that great but is backwards compatible on the Xbox 360 so at least you can enjoy some higher resolution graphics. Over all the game isn't revolutionary but it still provides...

Well worth the money

Strengths: Online play available, hundreds of abilities, almost fully destroyable enviornments, nice blend of action and strategy, small price tag

Weakness: Split screen play is too small, repetitive running around to get missions, slightly odd targeting system, partners are often useless

The idea of the game sounded really cool so I thought I couldn't go wrong considering the low price. First off you can start out playing split screen with someone else and have a random selection of powers (without needing an aresenal). The split screen mode could've been better though. About 1/4 of the screen is blank with your power "widget" to one side. In the single player game the "widget"...

Phantom Dust

A few months ago I was playing a Japanese demo of a game on the Official Xbox Magazine demo disk. It seemed pretty interesting, but it was hard to know what was going on due to the fact that I do not know how to read Japanese. Well that game has finally hit the American shores and it goes by the name of Phantom Dust. This game is really interesting and it is worth the time to check it out. Read...
