Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)

Strengths: Fantastic graphics, additional content from previous game, incredible action

Weakness: Freakishly difficult

Ninja Gaiden Black is an update to the 2004 game, Ninja Gaiden. The same third-person action game, with fantastic looking graphics, freakishly difficult gameplay, gets updated with additional skill levels and additional gameplay content. For the action fan, this is a very challenging title and worth every penny.

Xbox Game of The Year

Strengths: a great challenge; adds more content (such as the hurrican packs) to the already superb Ninja Gaiden from 2004; great, fluid graphics; many moves and weapons to use effectively; only $29.99 MSRP

Weakness: may be too difficult for some people

When Ninja Gaiden first came out in 2004, it was regarded as one of the most difficult action games (or any type of game for that matter) in a long time. It combined great fast-paced action with many weapons, combos, and techniques at your disposal. Unlike many of the action games out today, you CANNOT just button-mash and expect to get very far in the game. This game requires a lot of skill and...

The Greatest Action Adventure! Period!

Strengths: Best Graphics for current gen consoles. Fixed camera angles! Add-on expansion packs.

Weakness: Too difficult for beginners!

This is perhaps the BEST Action Adventure game I have ever played! Great graphics, responsive control, long lasting appeal. The story focuses on Ryu Hayabusa, the cool ninja character from Dead or Alive series. Ninja action has never looked better in a game. I finished the game twice and am still playing it. If you haven't played this game, you are missing out on a great game. Personally, I think...

Best Ninja Game

Strengths: Great Storyline, Non-stop action

Weakness: Bad Camera Angles

One of the best ninja games ever! Spectacular graphics and visual effects. Tons of fighting moves and non-stop action. The game is a bit difficult, which makes it challenging and enjoyable. Storyline is kind of cliche, but I like it nonetheless. My only complaint is its difficult to see where you're going at first, but once you get the hang of it its not too bothersome.

beautiful game

Strengths: the mixture of the hurricane packs into the game

Weakness: some camera troubles if you are up against a wall its hard to see who you are fighting

This is one of the most beautiful and interesting games I have ever played in my life. I love this game and everything it stands for. You cant just push a bunch of buttons and win the game, you have to know what you are doing. The graphics and backgrounds are phenomenal. I highly recommend everyone buys this game. It also has the acrade version of NG!!!! I loved that game and now I can play it...

A mustown title for Xbox

Strengths: A tweaking of the original xbox game (an excellent game by itself)

Weakness: None as far as I am concerned.

Ninja Gaiden was the reason I finally bought an xbox. Sure, it was difficult and the camera was unfriendly at times, but it was a blast to play, captured the spirit of the NES games and had sweet graphics. Two Hurricane packs were free for downloading and they improved the game by focusing mostly on the camera angle. Black roles up those Hurricane packs, adds some new weapons, and a mission mode...

Ninja Gaiden Black

Strengths: Graphics, sound effects, cut-scenes, storyline, extras (including arcade Ninja Gaiden game)

Weakness: Very challenging (steep learning curve)

Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox was an extremely difficult game to finish, even on the easier “ninja dog” mode. So, Tecmo decided to release a director’s cut, of sorts, titled Ninja Gaiden: Black. And guess what? It’s even harder than the original. Ninja Gaiden: Black exhibits the same great graphics and sound as the original did. It also contains the wild (and sometimes over-the-top)...

Best action game of 2004 gets a few updates. . .

Strengths: Best action game of 2004 re-released with extras, includes Hurricane Packs 1 and 2, includes additional new content as well, new easier difficulty level and player-controlled camera

Weakness: Updated release of a year-old game, perhaps still too difficult for some players, no sequel coming anytime soon

2004's Ninja Gaiden saw developer Tecmo at the top of its game. With beautiful graphics, heart-stopping action and a high level of challenge, Ninja Gaiden gave fans everything they could have hoped for in a 3D update to the 2D side scroller of years past. A year has passed since then, and Tecmo has released two content downloads (called Hurricane Packs) through Xbox Live. Given that only 10% of...

Fantastic Game

Strengths: Awesome graphics. Challenging gameplay.

Weakness: A bit too hard.

Ninja Gaiden was already one of the best games on the Xbox. This rerelease gives you the first game with the two hurricane packs that you could download online bundled in. It also allows you to choose your difficulty level. If there is one thing you need to know its that Ninja gaiden requires skill....a LOT of skill. This is probably one of the most difficult game you'll ever play. However if you...

Hard experience but worth it

Strengths: great fluid gameplay

Weakness: difficulty

This is one of those rare games that will make you break a controller (or 12) because it is just that hard but just as rewarding when you beat a level. The game is full of fluid gameplay that never gets boring and is a blast to play. Highly recommended.

Ninja Gaiden Black

I am ashamed to say this, but I never really got to play Ninja Gaiden, other than the demo that came in the Official Xbox Magazine last year. When I heard that Team Ninja was re-releasing the game, including the two Hurricane Packs, plus a few extra’s I knew that I had to get my hands on it, and let me tell you that I am not disappointed in the least. This has to be one of the best action games...

Ninja Gaiden Black

When Ninja Gaiden first hit the Xbox, it left us all realizing just how much more we should be demanding from the action genre. Here was a game that looked just as good as it played and was as deep and as challenging as you could hope for. Plus, it reminded us that ninjas don't always have to slip in under the cover of shadows and pretend they're spies. Sometimes, ninjas get to leap out of a...
