It turns out that a crazed media mogul named Gleeman Vox has been gathering heroes to act as contestants on his ultra-violent combat reality show, "DreadZone." Vox soon realizes that Ratchet has champion potential, so he forces the furry little guy into battle. Now, encased in a suit of armor and sporting an explosive collar to keep him in line, Ratchet has to compete in the game and go up against the deadly Exterminators (a team of warriors lead by a man called Ace Hardlight) in order to save himself and his friends.
