Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: Decent attempt at 3d Castlevania, decent graphics, good soundtrack, and great character design.

Weakness: Fixed camera angle is very restrictive for exploring, repetitive level designs, repetitive combat, and levels are not connected, but seperate unlike prior Castlevanias.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is Konami's third attempt at bringing Castlevania to the 3d realm. This time Konami sort of accomplished that goal with a few flaws that can be fixed in the sequel. This Castlevania's story is the starting point of the whole series. We get to see were the belmont clan started. The presentation on the story needs a little help, but you doesn't detract from...

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: Graphics, gameplay, music

Weakness: A little short

Castlevania finally gets 3D gaming right with this game. The graphics are awesome -- everything has a defined, detailed look that brings environments to life. The music of the game is absolutely phenomenal and the game sports one of the best soundtracks of any game ever. The gameplay is spectacular thanks to a stellar combat system that makes every fight a lot of fun. There's a lot of adventuring...

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: Great graphics, well-done 3D design, great action and controls, great combat

Weakness: 3D takes a litle getting used to, odd menu system

Castlevania is a classic NES game brought into the 3D world. The whole game is redone in full 3D, bringing a new experience to the Castlevania world. With the new 3D environment, it changes how to think about attacks, since it's not just 2D anymore. Also, with the 3D world, it takes a bit of getting used to, in respect of the attacks and the movement, especially the jumps. After a little while,...

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: It has great action and real time battles sceens, compeling story line, and the music was well set.

Weakness: but the over all exp. was bad such as dejahvu from Dvl. May Cry and the rooms are repetative

I've had this game since the i bought it.It was a fun game and it has some re-play value. The graphics are good. But the game play is to similer to devel may cry. Just not as good.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: Advances the Castlevania storyline

Weakness: Boring game design, camera problems

As someone who LOVED Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, I had high hopes for this game. This is Konami's third attempt at a 3D Castlevania but it didn't sit well with me. It's got all the elements, the whip-wielding Belmont fighting classic Castlevania monsters but it doesn't come together well. The game design is boring as you will advance through the game in a straightforward levels that don't...

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: great control

Weakness: weak camera

this game is a perfect example on how to turn castlevania into a 3d series. The controls are great, but the camera is a little iffy. You have real-time menu (like kingdom hearts) to deal with in battle. The boss are awesome and the normal baddies are cool. This is a great buy for castlevania fans.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Strengths: It's a 3D Castlevania game! And a good one at that!

Weakness: While going through the menu for certain items you use during a battle, it is done in real time, meaning you continue to get your butt kicked while you're trying to heal yourself.

What can I say? It's a 3D Castlevania game, and it's good! Konami has totally redeemed themselves for making those horrid N64 Castlevania, dare I say, games. A must have for any fan of the Castlevania series! This is possibly better than Castlevania, Symphony of the Night. Yes, it's that good!

Not the same in 3D

Strengths: + good graphics

Weakness: - repetitive level design

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence takes the Castlevania into a different direction. Instead of a mix of exploration and action like in the GBA titles, Lament of Innocence is basically a straightforward action title. You basically run from room to room destroying hordes of evil, demonic creatures. The action is fast and furious but the enemies don't really offer much of a challenge. Although the...

Castlevania in 3D

Strengths: fast action

Weakness: poor camera

As the first Castlevania in 3D the transition, it is a decent game. The action is fast and the story is intersting, which is like the previous games. The soundtrack is also amazing. There are secret characters to unlock which add replay value. The only downside is the poor camera, which can really mess up gameplay.

It's no "Symphony of the Night," but still a...

Strengths: smooth fighting system that avoids the camera and targeting issues of some other games; outstanding music; plenty of optional stuff for the more curious gamers to discover; gorgeous graphics

Weakness: not as good as PS1's "Symphony of the Night" (the earlier one accepts this, the better); somewhat repetitive level design with many rooms looking the same

Lament of Innocence is a very fun action game. I like "Symphony of the Night" for PS1 better - but this new game isn't really trying to be another SotN. "Lament" is more of an action title, and it focuses on combat more than exploration. This isn't to say that exploration is cut out completely - you will still have to go out of your way and get creative to complete certain tasks, and some...

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Gamers have been longing for the Castlevania series to evolve ever since PSone and Nintendo 64 led classic games into the third dimension. Their longing only led to lamentation when the first attempt to evolve the series failed, followed by the cancellation of all future Castlevania games (including one in development for Sega's last game console, the acclaimed Dreamcast). The series saw a...
