Romancing the SaGa?

Strengths: Well drawn graphics, wonderful music, not much else

Weakness: Graphic Animations are weak, no persistent storyline, battle system needs refinement

Essentially, this game has replaced the storyline that is usually found in convential Japanese RPGs with a series of disconnected "find this" "talk to that" quests. The story pretty much consists of the backstory available in the manual. There are no plot developements once the game starts, except for the ones that you imagine for yourself. The game consists of all side quests, and unfortunately,...

Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song

Strengths: Unique art style, Non-linear game play, excellent music

Weakness: Weak storyline(s), Seemingly useless skills, lack of direction

Being a fan of SaGa Frontier on the PlayStation, I became interested in the Japanese only, Super Nintendo Romancing SaGa series. I was pretty excited that the remake of Romancing SaGa was being made on the PS2. Romancing SaGa is a pretty mixed bag. Its fairly unique in many respects and has a lot of its own charm. I think that Romancing SaGa may have been better as a Super Nintendo game where its...

What's Going On???

Strengths: +interesting graphic style, +music, +being able to use different weapons in battles

Weakness: -no story or direction, lots of stats/skills to keep track of.

Romancing Saga's graphics style is what really interested me the most. It's done in a pastel/muted watercolor style. I would've liked to see more of the art however Romancing Saga as a game is horrible. Usually games will give the player some sort of direction of where to go, but not in Romancing Saga. You just have to kind of wander around and hope you talk to the right character or find the...

This series was once very good

Strengths: Interestin graphics

Weakness: Battle system, battle system, and story

So what I can say to convince you that you'll probably hate this game? The battle system? It's not at all good. Best to read up on it elsewhere. The story isn't that great either. I suppose if you can find this really cheap, it's worth checking out just to see how bad Square Enix can make a game. At the very least, the graphics are interesting.

A very different oddbal RPG

Strengths: Great music, variety of quests and characters

Weakness: very odd story structure, complcated battle system

This game is not your conventional role playing game. Especially for Square Enix. But tha SaGa series always seems to be a place where Square experiments or not. If you don't like role playing games at all then first off I say avoid this game. If you love RPGs and are looking for something different give this a try. First thing about this game is there is virtually no story. You get a backdrop;...

Romancing SaGa

Romancing SaGa brings together eight different characters for another journey of long battles and hard choices. It's an ensemble adventure. No one character is intended to be more important than the other. Who you choose to play as decides your objectives, your party members, and where your story begins. Game developers face a huge problem when designing a game with multiple character-specific...
