Too hard

Strengths: Great controller

Weakness: Bad Mix of music, plain too hard

I wanted to like this game, I love all other music games but this one was just not fun. Even of the easiest setting, the game was too difficult for me to play. This was a waste of time even for the hardcore music game fans.

Beatmania w/ controller

Strengths: Rhythm game, cool idea

Weakness: Controller is too big, too much to do, songs are no fun

When I first saw this, I thought it sounded like a fun game. I picked it up and tried it out. Within an hour I was sorely dissapointed and will probably never play it again. The songs just weren't very good. The difficulty is unbelievable (the easiest songs are fine, but there is a HUGE difficulty jump to get to the next level of songs). Lastly, the controller is just big, bulky, and...

Beatmania finally comes to the US

Strengths: great controller, less expensive than importing a Japanese controller, lots of songs to play, 5 key and 7 key to appeal to beginners and experts

Weakness: song list is pretty weak, can get difficult rather quickly, not as good as the japanese versions

Beatmania US is not so bad if you havent played Beatmania before, as you probably won't notice the terrible song list. But the game gets challenging pretty quickly and doesnt allow you to ease in with the difficulty. There is a 5 key mode though for people who can't handle all 7 buttons. The controller itself is very nice and good quality, and probably worth it for the purchase alone. Import the...

Beatmania

Strengths: Innovative gameplay, long lasting game

Weakness: so-so soundtrack

Don't have a lot of money to spend on video games for your kids? Just looking for one or two games that will last them for a few months before you have to dig back into your wallet? Then definitely pick this game up. It is a very easy game to learn, but will take forever to actually master (and possibly) beat it completely. Much like Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero, you have to keep beat...

Beatmania

Strengths: Lots of gameplay out of this - challenging

Weakness: Songs seem to be too short - really hard

Being a fan of Guitar Hero, Amplitude, Donkey Konga, etc. , I had to check this game out. Man, it is hard! I can barely beat 2 star songs, and they go all the way up to 10. I can see this being fun once you get the hang of things, but as a beginner it can be very frustrating. i would say rent this first, but you really need the special controller so that wouldn't work. So far I love and hate the...

Beatmania US bundle review

Strengths: Long lasting game worth the money

Weakness: Big learning curve

If you like DDR, then you will love this game. It's not quite as tiring as DDR would make you, but it definetely exercises those fingers and makes them real flexible. The game is not so bad either. It's 3 times more fun than DDR but 3 times harder to learn. The music selection is great. I would definetely recommend any music gamer to pick up this title. This is probably the best music game series...

Beatmania is fun but really frustrating

Strengths: The controller in the bundle

Weakness: The steep learning curve

Beatmania is a real hardcore music game. It takes quite a while to understand where all the buttons are and takes people years to beat some of the hard songs. It is definetely a game that will last and is worth your money. But this game is much harder than dance dance revolution. Be ready to commit or give up on this game.

The best music game out there!!

Strengths: The music is great and this game will last you.

Weakness: The US versions has a poor music selection.

You won't find the special beatmania controller anywhere else for this price. The domestic release is like heaven for the wallets of beatmania fans. But you better get yours quick because I've been seeing this game on clearance and being sold out. The US controller, in my opinion, is better than the japanese version. The game is alright, but you might seriously think about importing the japanese...

Beat it! Just Beat it!

Strengths: Amazing rhythm action Great controller that used to cost way too much to import

Weakness: Tough as nails gameplay Weak songlist (hint: import the PS2 IIDX games)

I love and own nearly every music game that comes out, and I've been eagerly awaiting this one for a while. Available in Japan most recently as IIDX, beatmania is a rhythm/music game like DDR or Guitar Hero. The difference: This game is HARD. It takes a LOT of practice to be able to play well, even if you have experience in the genre. Also, the songlist leaves much to be desired for (Brittany...

fun little niche title

Strengths: controller

Weakness: learning curve

beatmania is the first music based game created in Japan. Now we finally have a console version for ourselves in the states. the game is very good except the fact that it is extremely hard. I can't beat 4 star songs. The game has a good soundtrack and awesome controller but the game is hard as anything. Recomended but be wary.

beatmania

I actually have a little history with Beatmania, going back to the summer of 2000. I was in Japan for a couple weeks, and a friend and I saw this interesting game in the arcade. Instead of a joystick, five keys were set up like a fragmented keyboard, and to the side lay a turntable. We had to try it, and immediately we fell in love. Why had this game not made it to America? It was great! Well,...
