Champions of Norrath

Strengths: Great multiplayer, extremely high replayability, easy to learn, and totally fun!!!!

Weakness: N.A.

Although i only rented this game once i had so much fun with it I can begin to calculate how many of the total 7 days i used out of it. Its one of those easy to learn non-stop hack n' slash that will keep you going for those long nights. Plus with the additon that it is multiplayer , it so sick. I love to have random friends over and just pick up the game at any one point and we count kills and stuff like that. The game is very long also. Most games that i rent i always finish before its due. But this one kept me going and i could not have more fun. The dungeons, great, the bosses, great, the weapons and armor, great, i mean there is so much content and it is always making more. I cannot stress enough how much you need to buy this game if your even reading this review and own a PS2. So what are you waiting for go and buy it!!!!!!

Champions of Norrath

Strengths: online play

Weakness: camera

this game is very fun to play. It is a multiplayer, hack and slash rpg set in the everquest universe. I have never played everquest so i do not know anything about it. the gameplay is reminescent of Baulder's gate dark alliance. The game is 4 players, on and offline. For the 20 bucks it is offered, it is well worth it.

Champions of Norrath

Strengths: Addictives, customizing your character build, 5 different character classes, online play

Weakness: Not alot of extras or incentive to play for

Champions of Norrath is a Hack N' Slash action adventure game much like what Diablo II is on PC. The menus are about as easy to understand as a Hack N' Slash game can have on a console system. You can play online in a game with up to 4 people or play offline with up to four people with a multitap. While the game itself is alot of fun afew things did hinder the game though. Once you finish an act & move on to the next one you can't move back to any acts before the one your on. Also when you play online if one person moves onto an area (for example goes into a cave) the game will automatically load you up into the cave entrance with them & while in town if one person enters shop you will be forced into shop also. I though these things were abit of a pain after being used to playing Diablo II where you can be anywhere in the game doing anything while it won't affect another person being forced into the same place as you like in Champions of Norrath. Also alot of the game is pretty straight forward with alot of fetch type quests but the fighting is done well enough that these things are still alot of fun. I would recommend Champions of Norrath to anyone who enjoys Hack N' Slash type games.

Diablo-esque but that's a good thing

Strengths: Excellent graphics; plenty of missions; good boss battles

Weakness: Some framerate problems

Champions of Norrath is another of the hack and slash games from Snowblind. If you're into hack and slash games, these games are good stuff. The graphics are great and the game controls are good. The storyline is nothing spectacular but is acceptable (you know orcs & goblins must be stopped). There are some good boss battles. The game has multi-player options for 2 players and online play. One weakness of the game is that the framerate gets bogged down when there are a lot of enemies on the screen or particle system effects. Other than that, the game is a pretty fun action game. Recommended.

Champion of Action RPGs

Strengths: + multiplayer option, 1-4 players + customizable characters and 5 groups to choose from

Weakness: - character models are a bit crude. - the camera for 2 or more players is too far away from the action and characters look like ants.

Even though Champions of Norrath has everything and more that the original Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance offered, for some reason I didn't enjoy it as much. It's good fun, especially when you have several friends to play along but I think the camera ruined it for me. When you have multiplayer on, the camera is zoomed out and really high making it very difficult to see what you're fighting.

Champions of Norrath - Highly recommended!!!

Strengths: Ability to sell unwanted gear, and buy upgrades and better armor; excellent graphics

Weakness: Weak online capabilities; no "quick save" feature during missions

This game is one of the best RPGs I have ever played. The character customization at the beginning is unique, and the ability to add points to your character's individual skill set is another fun feature.

The particle effects, lighting and detailed graphics are all excellent. Also, the music score adds drama to each level you encounter.

The only drawback to this game is that sometimes the tile sets don't draw in quickly enough, and it appears that you are crossing over into a deep, black nothingness.

All in all, Snowblind has put together a top-notch game in "Champions of Norrath".

Fun RPG + hack n slash

Strengths: Online play, hours of entertainment

Weakness: gets repetitive

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. While I didn't play a lot of online play, I did utilize the multiplayer option a lot and it makes the game a lot more fun. Nonetheless, even with one player, this game can be fun. It is a hack and slash game set in an everquest world. Highly recommend.

Champions of Norrath

Strengths: Great hack-and-slash adventure, online play, good music.

Weakness: Wierd freezing glitches, repetetive, cheaters in online play.

I've always loved cooperative games and this game is great way to play online or offline (with multitap). I have never gotten into any MMORPG due to the lack of real-time battles so it was a welcome relief that Sony decided to make this game. It's basically you and up to 3 other people get to explore different lands and dungeons to further the goals in the story and to enhance your character's weaponry, armor and skills. This game can get repetitive at times because it is a hack-and-slash adventure. There are some glitches and freezes with the game since the game's data (character data) is stored on your memory card (and not the servers). This causes the game to freeze at times and sometimes you get to a certain point in the game and get stuck (the only way to play again would be to start all over again). Also, there's the issue of people cheating, which ruins the fun of the game. It's probably best to play with people you personally know and trust. If you like a more engrossing (and online) Gauntlet type experience, then Norrath is for you.

Champions of Norrath

Strengths: Armor, weapons, levels.

Weakness: pretty much the same as balders gate.

Not being too keen on Role-playing games, I was hesitant to pick this title up, I'm glad I did. I've been playing it for some time now, trying out new characters and raising my stats. It's actually pretty fun when you sit down and play. You can also play the game with up to four players. But you all have to be on the same screen and have to split the pick-ups between yourselves, so you might want to pick your buddies wisely. I strongly recommend this game to anyone. Just try to stand in the sun and clean air every four to five hours of play.

Champions of Norrath

Strengths: Everquest in an action RPG, excellent graphics, expanded character and weapon building options, action role playing at its finest

Weakness: Auto-generated dungeons mean your environments change with every time you play

From the same people that brought you the original Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath provides a similar but PS2-exclusive experience set in the Everquest world. You have more character and weapon customization options here, and the hack-and-slash RPG elements have been refined to an art. The graphics and sound are very good for an overhead adventure of this sort, but the randomly generated dungeon layouts may turn some players off. If you enjoyed Dark Alliance (or its sequel), you'll be more than happy with this Everquest-themed edition Sony has come up with, especially now that it's joined the Greatest Hits value line.

Champions of Norrath

Strengths: Great hack-and-slash gameplay, nice graphics, great multiplayer, not a short game, five characters to pick from, online play

Weakness: Camera isn't controllable

Champions of Norrath is a great hack-and-slash game, in either single player or multiplayer modes.

It's a great button masher game, like Gauntlet, with plenty of gameplay to be had in its long length. The game looks very good, with great graphics, in both environments and magic effects. With five different characters to pick from, there's lots of replay value in the game, and even within a single character, there's many things to pick from in upgrading the skills/spells. On-screen multiplayer is a lot of fun, with up to four players able to play at once, as well as online multiplayer, as an option. The camera isn't controllable, so in multiplayer games, it can be an issue at times, though it's a small issue to worry about.

Anyone looking for hack-and-slash action should get this game, without question.

Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest

OK, while a lot of people out there agree that Baldur’s Gate for PS2 was one of the cooler titles out a year or so ago, many were not happy with the fact that the game was just way too short. I personally thought that it had the makings of one of the better games out on the market, and eagerly awaited the release of Baldur’s Gate II, hoping that the continuing story from the first one would...
