Strengths: Fun gameplay; Great courses; Good for everyone in the family
Weakness: Excessive initial work to open up some of the basic characters; Character animations are not all personalized
Having played most all of the Hot Shots series, I found that this one continues to build on the solid legacy.
Gameply is still excellent with a very straightforward control system, that does not lack detailed control if it is desired. The new shot controls are good too, if you are looking for something new.
As always, the courses are excellently laid out and graphically beautiful.
Characters are good, but don't seem to have quite the personality as previous versions. The new character acquition system is more tedious than before (I liked the old system better, esp. for just geeting the basic level characters).
Sound is acceptable. BG music is repetitive. Heckling is fun.
Overall, this is still the best golf game on the market, for the enthusiast or the family.

Strengths: Fun, easy to learn gameplay. Decent graphics and sound.
Weakness: Can get a little repetitive after awhile.
This is the next game in the Hot Shots Golf series, the first for the PS3. This is my favorite PS3 golf game because it is not overly technical (like Tiger Woods is), but still rewards you for skillful play. It has a cartoon graphics atmosphere, and while the graphics won't blow you away, they are nice and fit the game well. There is an optional new swing method in this game which is harder to use than the power bar but rewards you with longer yardage. The gameplay can get a little repetitive after awhile, but overall it is a nice relaxing golf game.
Strengths: Gameplay, Humor, Sound effects, Online play
Weakness: Repetitive play, Graphics, Game modes
This is the first Hot Shots Golf game that I have played, and I have enjoyed it thus far. I've played Mario Golf before and HSG reminds me of that in some ways. The game is very easy to pick up and play and the controls are mechanically sound. I've only used Advanced swinging mode and I like how it works except that it's hard to gauge the percentage of power that you are using. The sound effects from things like rain and wind are top notch. Online play is also a cool addition and works pretty fluidly by having everyone play the same hole at the same time. One negative thing is in Challenge Mode, you have to play many of the same courses over again to move on. This can become pretty repetitive. There are Special Rules occasionally to spice things up though. The graphics are clean but there could be greater detail and textures on the courses. There also could have been more character animations and dialog. I've also heard that previous versions of HSG have had Mini Golf modes, but this one does not appear to have one. Overall, this is very fun game that everyone can enjoy.
Strengths: Hot Shots Golf playable online
Fun arcade gameplay
New Advanced Shot mode is a nice addition
Weakness: No online voicechat; hard to communicate with other golfers
Lots of grinding in order to open up later courses
Few courses in game
Hot Shots Golf has never been about realistic graphics, but has offered very complex controls and real world physics to present a challenging but fun alternative take to a golf game that is just as deep as Tiger Woods from a gameplay perspective. However, Tiger has Hot Shots beat in terms of depth of the overall game experience. Hot Shots has only 5 or 6 courses, of which only the first is unlocked from the get go. The others require hours of play in order to unlock. The online mode is great fun, it is easy to drop into a lobby and join in either a round or tournament. Instead of taking turns with their shots players play at the same time, which leads to much quicker matches. My only complaint is that their is not voicechat. You can type in comments in the lobby or in between holes during the match, but without a keyboard there is not enough time to string more than 2 or 3 words together. Still the pros far outweigh the cons and with the promise of more courses and golfers available via downloadable content, I highly recommend Hot Shots Golf for the PS3. It is by far the PS3 game that I have played the most. Please note that the game does not render in 1080i or 1080p, so if you have an older HDTV (like I do) the game will down-rez to 480p.
Weakness: Not enough courses and online rooms are confusing.
I really enjoyed playing the PSP Hot Shots Golf. This one is very similar to the PSP version. Just a laid back and easy game of golf. The nice thing about this version is you can play it on your big screen and it has multi-player.
The graphics are pretty good, but not amazing. The characters are done up really well and the course is nice. Gameplay is really easy and fun to play. Online is kind of weak because there is no voice chat even for 2-4 playing together. I can understand when you get in a tournament with many players, but 2-4 of your friends, not acceptable. Getting into games can be confusing too.
I would suggest picking it up because it is a really easy and fun game to play.
