Great Game for the Entire Family!

Strengths: Many different play modes. You can change character looks, sing songs through Quickplay, be judged as in American Idol, compete with your friends, etc.

If you purchased the last American Idol, you should add this one to your collection. These games are great for the entire family. We all love playing these games. You can sing duets, sing against each other, be judged by the American Idol judges, etc. We all enjoy customizing our own characters. We highly recommend this game.

Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore

Strengths: Good list of songs, lots of unlockables

Weakness: Judges’ comments get old and often are inaccurate or contradicting

This is Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore for the PS2. If you have played any of the previous Karaoke Revolution games you should already know what to expect from this game. This is a karaoke game in which you get points on how well you sing. If you sing well enough, you can unlock songs, venues, characters and outfits. What sets this game apart from other Karaoke Revolution games is that there is a game within the game. You can go through the American Idol audition process and get judged by the three judges. You are in competition against some of the past Idol contestants. Sing well and you move on to the next round. Sing poorly and you get eliminated. Some of the judges’ comments are either repetitive or confusing because they often do not match the performance. For those who just want to sing, there is a “free” mode in which you can sing without the pressure of scoring points. Overall, I would recommend this game to Karaoke Revolution veterans. Not much is new but the formula still works. Basically, it is the same as all the other Karaoke Revolution but with a new song list.
