Strengths: Four classic arcade games on one GBA cart
Weakness: Those 4 games are shoddily recreated on hardware that should have no problem handling them
Anyone who grew up in the arcades in the 70's and early 80's will likely fondly remember the 4 games in this classic collection: Defender, Sinistar, Robotron 2084, and Joust. The latter, in particular, I wasted many a quarter playing. The GBA is the perfect platform for these old arcade games as the graphics are more than adequate for good reproductions.
Unfortunately, the developers dropped the ball here as each game is nowhere near a faithful reproduction of the originals. Joust, in particular, has some major issues (collision detection, invisible platforms). Defender suffers from slowdown which is incredible given how far advanced the GBA hardware is compared to this very old arcade game.
This could have been an excellent collection but simply suffers from a poor effort in translation to the GBA hardware. I'm glad I only paid a few dollars for it - pay no more yourself!
Strengths: Great games from the past!
Nostaligic feeling when playing
Weakness: None
This is an awesome deal for the old school gamer. This game contains 4 great hits. Each would be worthy of being sold alone. The graphics and translation is great. These will keep you going for a while. Don't miss out on this complilation.
This game comes with 4 great hits. The only one I bought it for was Joust! This is basically for a flashback, it has 4 VERY old games on it for the GBA. If you like that sort of thing, grab it up =)
I don't look at old yearbooks or that pile of pictures my parents have stored to recall my younger years. Instead, I fire up the latest collection of arcade classics. Okay - maybe that's not the entire summation of my life, but that and a good collection of 80's hits certainly has a way of bringing back a lot of fun times. Enter Midway's Greatest Arcade, published by (okay isn't this a bit...
