katamari

Strengths: Inovative gameplay, unique, very addicting, funny, colorful, great music

Weakness: none

This game may sound weird when you try to explain it to someone, but when you try it out, it is so fun! Basically you play a prince who has to pick up things by rolling a ball. First you start out will small objects, like flowers and paperclips. As the game moves on you get to pick up larger and larger items, like people, building, cars, everything!! I know this sounds crazy, but it is one of the greatest games ever! The music in this game is so cute too. This game is a masterpiece. It is also a bargain at MSRP of $20. Buy this game now =) Pretty soon the sequel, We love Katamari, is going to come out too.

Katamari

Strengths: Fun gameplay, something new, easy to play

Weakness: N/A

Looking for a fun game you can play by yourself, with your family and friends, or just when you need to kill a few minutes? Look no further, as you've come to the right place. Katamari is a simple game that can be played by anyone willing to give it a try. There are no complicated controls, no combos to remember, or difficulty levels to compete on. All you do is roll around and collect objects. As your ball gets bigger (from collecting lots of smaller objects), you can collect bigger and bigger items. While simple sounding, this is probably one of the most addictive games I have ever played. I've also gotten my wife to play it and she has never played video games before. I can't say enough good things about Katamari Damacy, so I'll just leave it at this... BUY IT!

I want to roll you up into my heart!

Strengths: Great music, unique gameplay

Weakness: Not any I can think of, its pretty good!

Here is the famous game where you roll up everything in the world onto your big ball. That's all there is to it but its so addicting. You can only roll up small things at first and then larger things as your ball grows. You must get the ball big enough by the end of the time limit. You might be turned off by the blocky graphics, but I propose to you that this is actually a very detailed game. You will know what I mean when you play a level where you start out as small as a piece of fruit but eventually roll up the very island you started on. All that stuff is still there, you are just huge! The music in this game is great fun too! Plus the King is a total hoot!

katamari Damacy

Strengths: It's different, addicting, and easy to play. Music is pretty cool too.

Weakness: Possibly too simple?

Katamari Damacy is a breath of fresh air. In an industry where 90% of the games are Grand Theft Auto, Tom Clancy, or Madden (or a variation thereof), Katamari Damacy brings something new and fun to the table. The concept of the game is simple. You control a sticky ball (Katamari) and you have to roll up as much as you possibly can within a given amount of time. You can only roll up objects that are smaller than your ball. So if something is too big, you must roll up a bunch of other small objects first and then come back to the larger object once you've grown.

As I said earlier, this is a very simple game. The only controls you will use in the game are the two analog joysticks. This makes the game perfect for those people who just aren't that into gaming because it's "too complicated."

However, is the concept too simplistic?? On paper it definitely seems like it. But once you've played it for 10 minutes, you'll find yourself coming back to it over and over again just looking for new things to roll up, high scores to beat, and all the other stuff the game keeps track of.

I definitely recommend this game for EVERYONE. There is no age group that couldn't play this. The content is appropriate for anyone. You really can't go wrong by getting this game.

Crazy Addicting!

Strengths: Fun, AWESOME music, will keep you busy for hours, quirky and whimsical

Weakness: Lose too much of your time, graphics only okay, short

Katamari Damacy is one of the most original games to come out in years. I'm actually amazed that this got released here, with its odd original name in tact.

But I'm glad. This is a fun inventive game that everyone should be playing.

The basic premise is simple: You roll around, first as a small ball and try to collect things to increase your size. You do this using the two analog sticks and its very intuitive. Most of what you will be doing is trying to increase yourself to a certain size before time runs out.

This is a great game and I cannot recommend it more. While the game is short, it's so addicting you will definately be playing for awhile.

Katamari Damacy

Strengths: Quirky, unique, game that is loads of fun

Weakness: A little on the short side

Katamari Damacy is one of those rare games these days - an utterly complete and unique experience for a console game. While it has spawned a few sequels of it's own, the original was a breath of fresh air when it was originally released as a budget title ($19.99).

You play as the Prince of the Cosmos who is instructed by your father (the King of all Cosmos) to roll up various objects on Earth so that the stars in the sky can be recreated. Yes, there is a wacky story behind the game and some truly bizarre characters. However, it is the gameplay that is the attraction here. In each stage you must roll the Katamari, or ball, over various objects to pick them up and collect them. You use the dual analog sticks to control the motion (forward or backward), turning, dashing, and that's about it. The control scheme is very simple but difficult to master (especially when doing some of the tougher challenges).

You start off small by picking up items in a bedroom - paper clips, batteries, etc. As your Katamari gains size you can move up to the next class of objects. Most levels constrain you to a particular area, but the later levels have you progressing from within a house to being out in the town. Eventually you are rolling up buildings and then whole islands and even clouds. Along the way you collect the Prince's cousins, who can then be used to push the Katamari in other stages.

While the game is not particularly long in terms of reaching the credits, it has a ton of replay value as you can try to beat your score (either time, or Katamari size, or number of objects collected depending on the type of stage). This game is really addictive for the collector types as you can also view every object you have picked up and it will keep you playing again and again until you've found every object in the game (and some are rare and hard to find).

Overall, this is one of the very best Playstation 2 games yet released, and is a definite must have, especially considering the price.
