More college football only smoother

Strengths: Runs at a smooth 60 fps; great online multiplayer

Weakness: No online leagues; dirty disc error far too common; football season is almost over

If you have played previous versions of NCAA football, then you've played NCAA 2008. The updates this year were not monumental, but a few tweaks here and there make the game's graphics a slight improvement to last years versions and the Campus Legend mode is pretty fun. I generally play once a week online and have had a great time with the game, but recently we have been having issues with games being disrupted due to a dirty disc error. However, neither my disc nor my friend's are scratched or dirty. I have had this exact problem with numerous EA sports releases and it is very annoying when it occurs in the 4th quarter of a tight game. Also, it would be nice if EA used the online connectivity to update rosters and team rankings during the season. Obviously, Kansas has had a better season this year than it is ranked in the game, so it would be nice if mid-way through the season EA released an update that re-adjusted teams ratings. Also, last year EA supported the game with free alternate uniform downloads and has opted not to do this for 2008. Overall, if you have 2007, there is no need to upgrade to 2008. If you are new to the series, then now is a great time to pick up 2008 (actually I'd wait a few more weeks to see if the game price drops sometime soon).

Football at it's finest (for a gaming console)

Strengths: great game play, fun recruiting, awesome graphics

Weakness: recruiting still has weeknesses

great game with great graphics. It gets better every year. I keep saying I am not going to buy anymore and I do. I am happy with this product and look forward to the next

Great Game, Great Graphics, Missing Some Teams

Strengths: Awesome graphics and gameplay

Weakness: missing some fun teams

I decided to buy this game instead of Madden 08 because it looked better on the graphics side. This game is truly fun to play and seems better than my friends' NFL games for the same system. I was really disappointed that some mid-major teams were not included, however. Everyone likes to play with the big teams, but sometimes you just want your school to be included. Besides that, the game is awesome.

Fun football game

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: Not that different from NCAA 07

I had played NCAA football 07 at a friends and thought that it was pretty fun so I thought that 08 would only improve. While the graphics are amazing (especially compared to back in the day when I used to play on the Sega lol) I feel like there aren't that many changes to this years version. To me, I would rather find a discounted 2007 version and spend about $40 less. However, if you love college football, this will definitely be a fun game for you. I think it's really cool that you start as a high school player and then go on to college. I've heard that the 360 version runs a bit slower than the PS3 but I haven't had any problems. Overall, I like the game but wish I'd just gotten the 2007 version and saved some $$.

The 2008 Version

Strengths: Added Maddenesque features (hitstick)

Weakness: same as last year?

Gameplay wise this is a 5 star game. For the series there isn't much of a reason for an upgrade. Granted, it was a good game last year. The new features and training add to the game, but I see that as tweaks to an already good game. It needed something novel for me to give it the 5th star when comparing it to the past of the series, its just too identical.

NCAA Football 08

Strengths: Smooth frame rates, good controls, good college football simulation.

Weakness: Sluggishness when going between menus. I feel like I get way too many interceptions. Like prior versions, Corso, Herbstreit, and Nessler's commentary can get a little repetitive.

Overall, I think NCAA Football 08 is a very good college football game. It has more features than I would ever have time to use. Commentary gets a little repetitive.

NCAA Football 08

Is it just me or are the years going by faster and faster? It seems like only yesterday that college football ended, but here we are again, a new season getting ready to play and a new NCAA game released as well. Last year was the first year that NCAA was released on next-generation consoles, and while it was a good game, there are many features that this game was lacking, especially when you...
