Great if you like to watch Sunday afternoon fishing...

Strengths: Using WiiMote. Many tournaments, lacations, and varieties of fish.

Weakness: Funny way of netting the catch. Using WiiMote.

I bought this title because it is cheaper (10 dollar less than others), use wiimote, and I like fishing.
On the strengths. First, this game uses wiimote as the fishing rod (duh), so it feels more like fishing than others that use game pad. However, it hurts me to say this, using wiimote is not everything (will talk about this later).
Second, this game has many locations, tournaments as well as varieties of fish. For any fishing enthusiast, he/she will be able to find the setting that he/she thinks he/she will be able to enjoy.
Third, this game has cheapest listing price for Wii.
Now on to weakness. Let's with strengths come weakness. This has new meaning for Rapala. 1st, Wiimote is great, however, in this game wiimote has too much lagging to feel real. Wiimote's lagging is not much but just enough to remind you that this is not real fishing. Every time you swing the rod, you will feel that the person in the game is following your commends instead of you being that person.
2nd, netting in this game requires you to aim your wiimote at the fish while punch in a combination of buttons. Come on, as if wiimote issue is not enough to remind me this is a video game.
3rd, all "over 500,000 acres of the top angling waters in the world" and at least 16 species of fish feels all the same. Catching Bass feels the same as catching Trout, as well as salmon, pike and others. Just the length of "catching" is different.
Final thought: This is a OK game. If you like watching fishing program on TV, you will like this game.

Great opportunity ruined by flawed controls

Strengths: Sound

Weakness: Controls

Rapala Tournament Fishing is a fishing sim for Nintendo Wii. The games a typical fishing game with various types of fish and different locales to fish at. Part of the game plays just fine and the wii-mote adds to the fishing experience. But the other part of the game, where at the end of fishing you have to input a button combination to catch the fish is just broken. Its especially hard to input the combo when using the wii-mote/nunchuk combo to play the game.

I give the game a 1 star rating since the catching of the fish just totally ruins the whole game.

WII Rapala Fishing

Strengths: Cheap thrill, driving the boat, Decent graphics

Weakness: Awkward controls, Net the fish?

I'm glad it came with a $10 gift card... I would NOT run out and buy it by any means. It is like a put above, a Cheap Thrill! Driving the boat is okay... Graphics are a B+. The controls are very awkward. You have to net the fish.. I believe a new model is on the way for Rapala..
Best Buy had the game with a $10 gift card so I thought I would take a chance on getting it... CERTAINLY not the best fishing game for WII. If you want cheap entertainment..go ahead and spend the $30 and hope for a $10 gift card..or better yet.. wait for it to reach the $15 level and let your kiddos have a go at it! Sorry for being negative on this one!

Rapola Tournament Fishing - Disappointing for Wii...

Strengths: Variety of fishing locations and fish to catch

Weakness: 1) Graphics were disappointing 2) Integration of the game to the Wii controller needs to be improved. 3) Overall game play is not likely to hold user interest

Rapala Tournament Fishing entered our home with high expectations that it would provide some interesting fishing experience during the winter season. Unfortunately, the slow game play and the relatively weak integration with the Wii controller made for a disappointing experience. After initial playing the game, it gets little use in our household. I would not recommend the game.

Fun Game!

Strengths: Great use of the wiimote! Fun action and casting, fun tourneys.

Weakness: Sometimes it gets boring and only 1 player action means that no one else can play along.

This is a pretty fun game, I had been looking for a good fishing game and Rapala delivers that. Its fun and it isnt too time consuming where you need to dedicate hours on it. You can fish a day of a tournament and then call it a day, which is nice because I dont have large blocks of time to play. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fishing!

rapala fishing tourney

Strengths: cheaper than the other games for the wii I like fishing

Weakness: hard to catch fish at first

I've been borrowing this game from a friend for about a month now and really enjoy it a lot. So I finally went and bought my own copy. I like real life fishing, and have small kids that I have started to take fishing and this game is an excellent introduction to them to help prepapre for fishing season again thru the winter months. Its not 'perfect' in that the control lag a little bit, but the situations are similiar to real life. I have the "fish pole" to help with the reality of the game as well. This game has enough variety in it for kids to play and enjoy if they are into fishing. Downside to it, its hard for my kids to catch the fish in the net. Once you figure out the combo, its not that bad for an adult.
Good for kids, so so for adults. I like it, but I can't really play it for more than 45-50 minutes without wanting to do something else.
