About halfway around the first lap, you'll find yourself becoming overly bored with the rest of the race.
Over the years car games have gotten much better. This one hardly seems interesting in the least. The cars are impossible to control, they swing wildly at the slightest touch of the wheel. Boosting is a yawner, and there's nothing else redeeming about the game.
I played this for about 2 hours 6 months ago, and haven't come back to it since.

Strengths: great graphics great gameplay overall great game
Weakness: seeing the road can be difficult sometimes
Just like its orgins ridge racer lives up to its name, just like before you race and drift around tracks, accept this time the graphics are alot better, and you get online play which is great. If you've played the others, or grew up in the arcade on this game, you should adapt very well and have a great time playing it.

Ridge Racer 7 is a typical Japanese racing offering on the PS3. It's one of the launch titles to demo the capability of the PS3 engine, which is pretty successful in that regard. Graphics is amazing and an improvement over the previous incarnations of the game. Unfortunately, that's where the goodness of the game stops. Car handling is unrealistic, especially if you are tuner who likes to tweak and upgrade your cars for different performance and handling.
If you can get past the unrealistic aspect of the game, the game is still pretty fun to play. It's not too far in terms of improvement over the previous versions.
Ridge Racer 7 is one of the launch titles for the PS3 system. This is not much a different game than Ridge Racer 6. There are some new racing courses, options and effects but everything else feels like the previous game.
Being a launch title, this game didn't get much chance to fully explore graphical and computationally capabilities of the PS3. It plays and looks a tad inferior than the more recent racing games out in the market.
Ridge Racer 7 is a natural recommendation to gamers who are fan of the Ridge Racer series. For other gamers who want a better looking or a more realistic racing game, look for other alternatives.
Strengths: Graphical improvement from the last version, additional features and levels, yet utilizing the graphic capabilities of the PS3
Weakness: non
Awesome game!! Exactly a way to start, bringing in the old feel of the prior versions of Ridge Racer, yet bringing another and new twist that will challenge you for hours let alone many days...!
This game is for the people who like to play drift driving. It is fun to play that ways. In addition its graphics is good. However, I don't see any improvement from Xbox 360's Ridge Racer 6 which was published an year earlier. I hope the game studio should be more creative...
Strengths: Great graphics, fun to play if you like arcadey (non-realistic) driving games
Weakness: Not much different than Ridge Racer 6, sometimes the driving is a bit too unrealistic
Ridge Racer 7 is the traditional Playstation launch Ridge Racer title. However, instead of doing much new with the series, Namco chose to basically port the Xbox 360 "Ridge Racer 6" onto the PS3. By doing this they got a fun game with good graphics onto the PS3, but they did kind of miss the chance to either show off the PS3's abilities, and move the series ahead with significant new features.
This game is absolutely not a realistic racing simulator. If you're looking for Gran Turismo 5, this isn't it. The whole point of the game is to give you that breathless, going way too fast, on the edge of your seat driving feeling, and it mostly delivers. Sometimes the powerslides/drifting is a bit too over the top (like being able to do a 360 drift around a corner and come out at full speed) but in a way it's the trademark of the series.
There are quite a few tracks (although many are mirrors/reverses of other ones), and the graphics and audio are quite good for a launch title.
Definitely recommended to fans of the series, especially if they haven't played Ridge Racer 6. If you're just casually checking it out, or have already played RR6, there isn't a whole lot new, but it's still fun as long as you don't care about the lack of realism.
Strengths: +Classic arcade racing action
+Lots of options, courses and cars
+Internet play
Weakness: -Not enough to differentiate itself from ridge racer 6
-Not enough new stuff to satisfy fans of previous games
Ridge racer again arrives as a launch title for a playstation platform. Ridge racer 7 doesn't do much to differentiate itself from ridge racer 6. All that is to be found is a few new courses, options, and some new graphical effects. This is still a fun game, but the rehashing is starting to get old.
Weakness: Not that challenging, difficult controls
This game is not for hardcore gamers. My kids love this game and especially my son enjoys it a lot. But he doesn't care if he is having a hard time controlling the cars which drift a bit too much then they should.
The graphics are excellent on a full HDTV. Which seems to be the only major plus point of the game.
Namco could have done a better job at making the game more engaging.

Speeding down city streets, you cut off one driver while slipping in between two others. You reach for your horn but there isn't one. You reach for your brakes at the sight of a sharp corner, then shrug your shoulders and drive into it at full speed. All is well in your world – the grand prize is just moments away. In the vein of every great tragedy, you're just about to become the champion...
So.. You get to race a car
Strengths: Good Graphics
Weakness: Everything Else
About halfway around the first lap, you'll find yourself becoming overly bored with the rest of the race.
