This is the best launch title for the PS3 (although that doesn't say much given the weak launch line-up). This game is a first person shooter developed by the company responsible for the Ratchet & Clank series for the PS2 (although this game is NOTHING like R&C). This game takes place in England during the 1950s. You play as Nathan Hale, an American soldier. You battle an alien species attempting to take over England. Even though this is supposed to be 1950s, the weapons are more like future weapons - thanks to finding alien weapons and secret American weapons development. It's got a good story told by a female British commander. The graphic are awesome in HD. The gameplay itself is typical FPS - nothing really new - run and gun most of the time. The multiplayer action is free on the Playstation Network and is a lot of fun - you can play deathmatch, team deathmatch, and other types of multiplayer games.
Overall I would highly recommend this game to anyone (18 and over since it's rated M for mature) who has a PS3

Resistance Fall Of Man is the best Ps3 game out. This is an excellent made shooter game. This game combines halo & socom into 1 game. There are humans and aliens in this game. The graphics are amazing and the sound quality is good as well. If you play online, you will be hooked. Online is awesome and the creators are continually updating the game play. This is a must have ps3 game, you will not regret it.

Strengths: Everything about this game is great. Graphics, sounds, weapons, locations, storyline, enemies... you name it.
Weakness: Not that I'm bias towards playstation 3 vs the xbox 360, but this game really doesn't have any weaknesses.
This is the game to own right now if you have a PS3. It really shows you what the PS3 is capable of. It's what I would call PS3's equivalent to Halo, but better in many ways.

Strengths: action packed, suspenseful, a little challenging but you would want to play it over and over again, graphics are great on any definition, aggressive- u feel it too
Weakness: I wish the main character, Nathan Hale, talked a little more,
you would want to purchase this game if you are looking for a great start on playing ps3. If you favor first person shooters, you won't be dissapointed because this game is fun, intense, and suspenseful. It's kinda scary sometimes but cool. try it on easy cause you wont survive medium at first.

Resistance is, quite simply, one of the best launch games ever. It’s a must-have game for any PS3 owner, and will be even when the other “big guns” start releasing this fall. Insomniac has returned to the genre they started with (their first Playstation 1 game was Disruptor, another FPS) and they’ve done it with flying colors. Starting with a very unique setting – an alternate WWII-era game where aliens have attacked earth – the game sucks you in and never lets go. The action is fast and the weapons are varied and fun to use (with very useful alt-fires for all). The game is gorgeous and runs extremely smooth, never dropping frames or slowing down. Presentation across the board is top-notch, from the menus to the voice acting. The single-player campaign will last around 15 hours or so the first time – with incentives like new weapons and unlockable goodies to encourage multiple play-throughs. Combine this with a great co-op mode and several online multi-player modes and you have a sure-fire winner. My only small complaint is the lack of an online co-op, but this is easily forgiven in light of everything else the game provides. No PS3 should be without this one.

This is the best game out for the PS3 at the moment. I have more fun with this game than any of my other games. The on-line mode is truly addicting and entertaining. A must buy if you just purchased a PS3 and want to show off its graphics.

Strengths: Great Graphics, Free Online Play on PS3, Good Story
Weakness: Another First-Person-Shooter
I am enjoying playing this game. You are an american soldier in Britain trying to save the world from aliens. The weapon selection is great and the ability for split-screen play at home with friends is a real plus. So far, this is the best game out there for the PS3 and will bring hours of enjoyment.

Strengths: This has a great story. The variety of different weapons are also fun, especially one of the weapons which allows your gunfire to follow a targeting round that has already hit your opponent.
Weakness: The graphics aren't that great considering this came out during the same time gears of war did. The enemy "bot" isnt very smart but they will overwhelm you or dodge you gunfire.
Being my first PS3 game i was expecting more from the one of the intial release games. So far i have been buying more blu-ray movies than games and havent been really impress by any of the games out. This game which is actually the best of them isnt bad. But they could have put more work into creating a better graphically designed game to compliment a good story. Hopefully this game leads it open to a sequel so Im expecting them to do a better job next time

Strengths: The only word that can comply with the qualities of this game is “superb”. Everything is excellent, the graphics, sounds, weapons (both chimera and human), the online multiplayer and plus it is FPS.
Weakness: I am yet to find any weaknesses within this game. There is 0 Lag, and best of all there are no limits on what you can do.
If you enjoy shooting games, this is the game for you. It is first person shooter, the online multiplayer is an excellent way to connect with people, you can easily join or create a clan, and there is a rank system, which shows your stats inside your profile of your character.
Overall I would give this game a 10/10.

Weakness: Mission objectives can be unclear at certain stages.
Personally I would strongly recommend this game to anyone who owns the system. Resistance: Fall Of Man, is strictly for the PS3, and is by far the greatest launch title available. The game is similar to Halo for all those who own or support the X-Box. I really have nothing bad to say about the game, except that enemy positions become very predictable.
The game also has segments that make you jump.. At one point I was even slighly afraid.

This game is solid. Not fantastic, not the best you've ever played in your entire life, but really solid, fun, and enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to find any weakenesses with this game. The gameplay is superb, level design is interesting, Lots of neat side challenges to discover and complete. But remember the days when Quake, Duke Nukem, etc came out and revolutionized the FPS? This is not that kind of revolutionary game. It's more of an evolutionary incremental improvement, primarily bringing HD to the table.
All that being said, I really enjoy this game and have been playing it off and on since I bought the PS3 6 months ago.
Weakness: Weak storyline, single player mode not very long
This is an extremely exciting game. You'll zoom through single player, but then you have multiplayer to experience. That's where most of the excitement comes from the game. In addition to the weapons in the game, there are "Quake"-like air pads which launch you into the air and let you hide to take out other players. You'll be playing online for months without loss of entertainment.

This is an excellent game with no lag.The best shooting game I have ever played.Online play is excellent and fun to play with others.It is a must for every ps3 owner.
Resistance: Fall of Man is the Playstation 3's best game to date. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is fantastic. The story is very well done mixing WWII with horror. The choice between weapons is also a wonderful feature of the game. Online multiplayer can host up to 40 individual players. This is a must have for any PS 3 owner.
Strengths: Graphics, control scheme, great co-op mode, and mostly a plot that feels fresh in a FPS game (haven't had that in a while!)
Weakness: Late-game expereince not as good as the early game, online play feels clumsy. (Both substantially better after patching)
After the March and May 2007 patches, my biggest gripes with this game (my original unedited review is below) have bene addressed, and it is really showing what PS3 games *could* be like. Now I only wish that all the weapons in single-player mode were available in co-op mode (which in my mind is be far teh most fun way to play the campaign), but otherwise the game gets kudos all around. A releast title that hasn't had its price drop 8 months after release -- and with the fixes that have been made, it still is (and is possibly alone as) a PS3 game worth that close-to-$60-price in my book.

The is one of the best games for the PS3 (with only Virtua Fighter 5 being better in my mind, and that's a very different genre game). The plot feels pretty fresh and a lot less derivative than just about any other shooter released in the last half-decade, it uses the PS3's capabilities better than just about anythign else out there (running without hiccups even in the co-op mode with 2 POV's), and it's just plain fun to play and see the plot develop, especially early on.
There are two problems with it that make it a 4 rather than a 5 in my book... the first is online multiplayer, which just feels clunky... In fact, I'd use the word "unfinshed" (and as Sony and INsomniac have recently announced that two online multiplayer patches will be released, one in 3/07 and one in 5/07, I'm guessing they feel about the same.) So maybe this will soon improve.
The second -- and much more serious -- one is that the endgame is a bit of a letdown from the early game in term of plot and design. Levels (while still looking great) feel more "cookie cutter", the pace that new types of enemies appear falls off, and the new weapons you get (which earlier on were mostly alien-tech weapns you gather from the battlefield) all of a sudden revery back to plain-vanilla (if high-powered) standard WWII fare rather than the more unique weapons you've been getting to know and love. Let's face it, I've played the billion or so other FPS's that give you RPG's before, and it's a let-down to pick one up here, especially when you've been wielding the likes of the Auger or Hailstorm). In fact, the final weapon you get in the story mode is SUCH a letdown I actrually exclaimed "you've got to be KIDDING me" the first time I picked it up and read the in-game intel. on it.
These are problems that can be expected in a launch title, but the bar is set so high by the early game experience that it for a moment leaves you wondering if you didn't overpay just a littel bit for this game... Until a new person picks up the second controller and you launch back into the very replayable co-op mode.
I'd say it's one of the two must-owns for the PS3 (and what a sad comment that is!), but just because it's at the top of the PS3 heap doesn't necessarily make it a 5-star game, especially with the later stages of the game feeling so rushed, especially after the incredible feel of the well-developed-and-produced early-game feel and execution.

I highly recommend this game as the "first game to get" for the PS3. The single player and the multiplayer are all very well made. There's little to no lag at all in the online multiplayer, that's how smooth the gameplay is online. The graphics are also very, very good. This game is no Gears of War, but it's still very, very good. Highly recommended!
