Tekken Dark Resurrection PSP

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: No online mode, D-pad control

Tekken: Dark Resurrection is essentially an add-on update to the popular Tekken 5 and ported to the PSP system. The major updates are the moves, extra characters, customizations and more game modes.

The graphics are excellent, truly exemplifies the capability of the PSP system. It is as smooth as the PS2 version, and as great a fighting game as Tekken 5.

The downside is the poor D-pad control. It's much harder to master for the fighting controls, than the analog stick on the DualShock 2 controller.

Overall, Tekken DR is still an excellent game for the PSP. A portable fighting game as great as Tekken 5 and with new features. Sold!

Tekken: DR

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: No online one on one

One of the best fighting games ever. Even better, its portable. It's an updated version of Tekken 5. It contains extra characters. One of the best looking games on the PSP. Great incredible graphics. There is game sharing. So, if you have the game and your friend doesn't, you can upload the game to his/her PSP and battle each other. Loading is pretty quick. I recommend to the people who loves fighting games especially Tekken fans.

Portable Tekken!

Strengths: Delievers everything you expect from Tekken in portable form

Weakness: The PSP D-Pad really makes it harder to do stuff

You like Tekken and got a PSP? Hurry and run to your store and get it then. The modes are well developed and there is countless replay to be had with this game. The only reason to not get this would be because you can't get into the Tekken series. It has my recommendation to Tekken fans.

Best Fighting Game on a Handheld

Strengths: Graphics, No unlocking charactors

Weakness: D-Pad, no online fighting mode

This is the best fighting game on a handheld ever. The game plays just as smooth as the PS2 version. The D-pad is bad to use at first, but you will get past it. All charactors are open to use from the beginning. The only real downside is there is no online play mode, which every Tekken fans really wants.

Now for some real Tekken on the go

Strengths: - Graphics are gorgeous. Gameplay is spot on. Enough of a difference from Tekken 5 to warrant a purcahse.

Weakness: - No online versus content. PSP d-pad still not good for fighters.

It's a port of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection from the Arcade. The catch is that it's just the Dark Resurrection add-ons and not anything from the first release of Tekken 5 like the menu screen, the stages, or music. So it's only the Dark Resurrection stuff.

Not so bad considering the game is more balanced than before. The new characters, Dragonv and the masher friendly Lili fit right into the preexiting structure.

The added Tekken Dojo mode is a nice distraction and a way to rank up in the game outside of Arcade mode. And while there are more costume items than before, a lot of characters are still limited in their selections.

The gameplay is flawless but because of the PSP's d-pad, diangonal motions aren't spot on, and in the heat of battle that's bad.

Ad-Hoc versus mode is terrific and being able to trade the ghost characters you create both in person and online is pretty sweet.

There are some other extra modes to keep you entertained (Tekken Bowl, Gold Rush, Survivial, etc) even when story, arcade, and dojo aren't enough.

This is a solid port of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection. Namco couldn't have done a better job (except adding an online VS. mode).

Tekken Resuurects the PSP!

Strengths: + tons of unlockable bonuses, items for each characters + ghost data allows you to battle other player's + runs at a smooth 60 fps

Weakness: - there is little lag with 2 UMD while wireless - with one UMD you can only battle in one stage via wireless - sava data can't be transferred to other PSP's

If your a Tekken fan this game should be no suprise. Tekken has started back on the arcade about 10 years ago. If you already have Tekken 5 on PS2 this may seem like more of a remix as you can't select the old stages, but T:DR does allow you choose from 30 characters and each of them has their own story as found in the original Tekken 5. There is a new dojo mode that allows you to battle others and earn bouns money. Tekken bowling mode is also brought back simliar to the one found in Tekken Tag.

Tekken: DR Review...

Strengths: Excellent graphics, decent load times, quality gameplay.

Weakness: Iffy controls.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection is an update of Tekken 5 for the PSP. There are several differences between the two; DR features an updated movelist, three extra characters, several other game modes, more character customizations, and a bowling mini-game.

On the positive side, the graphics are excellent, and are the best I've ever seen on a portable gaming device. The soundtrack is fitting and energetic. The gameplay is solid, with classic Tekken action that veterans of the series should enjoy. Those new to the series can also enjoy the game. There is a tutorial and several game modes aimed at increasing skills. Tekken Dojo offers more gameplay beyond story mode. Load times are quick, which is notable since long loading times plague PSP games.

The only negative I could find were the controls. Inputting diagonal motions on the d-pad can be difficult. Also, the controls can be a bit uncomfortable (as with any portable). This is especially true for the few players (like me) who use their index and middle fingers for the buttons.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this game, especially for fighting game fans.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection

Strengths: Gorgeous graphics and excellent gameplay

Weakness: None

Tekken: Dark Resurrection is essentially the same as Tekken 5 with added contents for the PSP platform. Some extras are 3 more playable characters, more character customization, and more game modes.

There are 30 unlocked characters to choose from at the start. With the absence of a stick, control using the D-pad is ok. Diagonal motions can be hard to achieve though. Loading time on the PSP is pretty quick too.

Tekken: DR is the Tekken on the go. It's definitely a must have game for the Tekken hardcore fans. Casual games looking for a portable fighting game will certainly find this game entertaining, and addictive.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PSP)

Strengths: (1) Superb graphics (2) Great control once you get the hange of it (3) Smooth multiplayer

Weakness: (1) None

Tekken: Dark Resurrection is one of the most graphically and technically impressive offerings on the PSP. Though it may take some getting used to playing Tekken with the PSP's controls, things are silky-smooth once you get the hang of it. Dark Resurrection is an extras-loaded port of the PS2 game Tekken 5, and as such, there is a lot more to dig into right away (though the stages from Tekken 5 have been replaced by new ones). Dark Resurrection features new characters, all 30 of which are unlocked from the beginning. Multiplayer is also very smooth and can be played by two people with only one UMD via GameShare.

Pretty good for a psp.

Strengths: Almost no difference in graphic, if you compare it to Tekken 5! Few new characters.

Weakness: It's so identical to Tekken 5, each character's prologue and epilogue are exactly the same, which is not a good thing!

Finally a decent fighter for PSP! All the characters are available in the beginning and you get to customize your character when you earn enough "fight money." Yeah, a Tekken on the go, a hardcore Tekken fan's dream come true! Graphics and game-play are exactly as same as Tekken 5 so I'm quite impressed in that part. But did we really need an exact port of Tekken 5?? Namco could've done something different with it. A Side story for each character, for example, to tie it with the main storyline. Or maybe it's just me? In my opinion, it could've been better.

Anyway, pick it up only if you are a hardcore Tekken fan.

Tekken 5 On The Go With Lots of Extras!

Strengths: Extras, Lots of Characters

Weakness: None I can think of

Tekken: Dark Resurrection is basically Tekken 5 with some extras added in and the PSP version of this arcade game has all that the arcade version has and like Namco likes to do with console ports of it's Tekken games even more extras added content over it's arcade counterpart.

You will have all 30 of the characters you can play as unlocked from the get go and not have to play though the game to unlock characters. You can also play against another player with only one UMD which is very handy if you only have one copy of Tekken: Dark Resurrection on had with 2 gamers and 2 systems. You can also make a ghost of yourself playing that you can upload so that other players around the world can download and play against which will mimic how you play. The single player mode is full of stuff to do also as you can play though the game to see the ending of 30 different characters along with Tekken Bowling, a new Gold Rush mode & a Dojo mode which is well done and can be played to unlock a ton of stuff. The biggest gripe with the game is more so with the hardware as the older model PSPs' D-pad has a hard time registering diagonals which takes a bit of getting used to.

I would highly recommend Tekken: Dark Resurrection as it's the best fighting game on the PSP and one of the best games overall on the system

Tekken: Dark Resurrection

Deep within the clutches of the King of Iron Fist tournament, a fighting game classic was being resurrected. Tekken 5, the game that brought the series back to its hardcore, performance-filled roots, was to be reborn in arcades. Given the preliminary exclusivity for PS2 (how times have changed – it used to be the other way around), the arcade port didn't make as much of a splash as the previous...
