Strengths: Awesome graphics and CGI - improvements over the prequel
Weakness: Story can be weak at points
I only recently played Valkyrie Profile : Lenneth on the psp.
Having come directly from that game to this, I can't say I am dissapointed. The strengths of the original were built upon, and new exciting features added in VP2.
Graphic wise, the difference is night and day. A game meant for ps1 to a game at the tail end of the PS2's life means GREAT graphics, and the CGI is gorgeous.
As far as gameplay, its as good as it gets. Battles only get semi-tedious and thats saying alot for a RPG.
I am halfway thru the game and loving it. Highly recommended!

Strengths: Incredibly fun combat system (mix of turn-based and realtime), gameplay reminiscent of old mario-style platformers, great graphics
Weakness: This is one HARD game, requires a lot of grinding for XP, the inventory interfance could use some improvement
I bought the original valkyrie profile when it was released several years ago (little did I know it would be fetching over 200 on ebay) and loved every minute of the quest to find soldiers to fight in ragnarok. This game is more of the same Valhalla-fun. The Norse-mythology inspired storyline is decidely nonlinear, and this game is actually a prequel to the original. Probably the neatest addition to the franchise is the ability to split your party in 2 groups so that one can flank the enemy and attack from the rear. New tactics are DEFINITELY going to be needed in this game, because it is extremely challenging. Get ready to throw a few controllers in anger! Still, this is a great RPG and a welcome change from the typical JRPG fare.

Strengths: Gorgeous graphics accompanied with great art
Weakness: Not wuite as good as the first game
Valkyrie Profile 2 is one of the best RPG games for the Playstation 2, and that says a lot. The combat system is interesting and is a lot like the first one. My only complaint is that it should have stayed in two dimensions, what they could have done with it on the PS2 could have been amazing

Valkyrie Profile 2 is a much needed sequel to the original Valkyrie Profile for the PS1. The game plays very well and the story is pretty good. The graphics are utterly amazing for an RPG and the battle mechanics are outstanding (not just your typical menu selection style). Overall VP2 has done a very good job of bringing together a lot of successful elements from different RPG's all into one. The only thing I didn't like was the large amount of level grinding required to be able to advance through the game. Nonetheless, if you can put up with that little nuisance, you'll be all set.
Strengths: Breathtaking graphics and video with imaginative storyline. Voice-overs are incredibly realistic.
Weakness: Hard to navigate menus and equip characters with numerous items.
Valkyrie Profile 2 is an amazing role-playing game with breath-taking graphics and an rich storyline. VP2 stays true to its predecessor in maintaining its focus and devotion towards creating and building a story upon imaginative characters.
Strengths: Great production values, rarely used mythos incorporated well into a fictional world, great storyline
Weakness: Combat can get tedious
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is the sequel to the very rare PS1 game Valkyrie Profile (and the easily found PSP version, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth). It takes place before VP1's story line, but with much updated graphics (towards the PS2's life cycle) and changes to the basic gameplay.
The story is the real reason to play, and the unusual gameplay mechanics for an RPG are workable, but not the star of the show. The world is immersive, graphical and audio design is absolutely top notch. However, the brand is not well known so it won't sell much. But if you are looking for something new from RPG makers, or are a fan of the original, you won't regret picking this game up.
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is a sequel to the classic Valkyrie Profile for Playstation (PS1). This is a game that ought to be in the collection of every RPG lover.
VP2 is an excellent game, with engaging storyline and a fun, dynamic combat system. The graphics are awesome, both in pre-rendered cut scenes and during gameplay. Gameplay is top-notched due to the dynamic combat system, so good that it easily rivals the one in the first VP game.
Overall, if you love RPG in general, you need to pick this game up.
Strengths: Great gameplay, graphics, characters, cutscenes
Weakness: none
This game is a great sequel to the original valkyrie profile on psx. The graphics are incredible, and the game is more fun than the original. They have updated not only the graphics, but the battle system as well, and it was for the better. Any fan of valkyrie profile or any rpg fan in general should pick this game up. It is excellent.
Weakness: Nothing (okay story, but that's not a feature of play)
This is the game that everyone should have in their PS2 this year. VP2 retains the timed attacking system of its predecessor while incorporating a 3D field into combat. This allows for a greater tactical depth within the game.
Characters' attacks depend upon the weapon they equip, so this makes them more than empty stat increases. If characters use a weapon that lets them use 3 attacks and a special attacks but deals low damage, it might not work as well against a strong enemy than a weapon that deals greater damage, but only has 2 attacks.
Alicia also gains access to sealstones, which confer various effects (both good and bad) upon the party when they carry them. By placing them upon dais, she can inflict these status effects upon enemies in the area including bosses. They can especially help with the tougher boss battles.
Speaking of challenge, I died over 15 times in this game, so it is quite challenging.
The game also features a lot of platforming. The main character, Alicia, has the ability to shoot photons from her hand, and they allow her to freeze enemies and a few other objects. They also allow her to switch places with a frozen enemy, and she also can jump when she does this. This allows her to access platforms she normally could not reach.
Of course, the levels have other features, which include trapped chests, a puzzle where you have to move a pillar onto a certain part of the floor without breaking it, and navigating through a maze that repeats itself if Alicia does not use the correct exit. These features make the dungeons fun to explore.
Overall, VP2 is the best game I have played this year, and, quite possibly, the best of this generation. No gamer should be without it.
Weakness: It can take some time to get used to the games quirks.
Valkyrie Profile Silmeria is the sequel to the classic game of a similar name. The original can now be replayed on the PS2 in its Lennith version. And the second game is just as good, even though it's several years removed. There's a rich and complex story that weaves around the war of the gods. The combat system is engaging and dynamic. The setting is unique.
The only thing about this gaem is that it takes some time to get into it. To learn how to follow the plot, to move around, to understand all the choiced. It's a testament to it's complexity but also has some learning curve to fully maximize the games options.
This game has great graphics. You should check out the CG for this game. Incredible beautiful CG. This is kind of like a sequel but it takes place a century before the original Valkyrie Profile game. It's a story about two characters named Silmeria and Alicia which both trapped in the same body. Great dungeons and battle systems. I recommend to people who loves RPG and would like to know the story after finished playing the original game.
Strengths: Fast battle system. Dungeons are like a 2D platformer. Lots of places to explore
Weakness: So might be turned off by the somewhat needed level grinding.
Some fans of this game may have played the first one already. In a way, the sequel feels different from that and therefore some fans may not like this. However, the wonderfully made dungeons and battle system is a huge plus. If you are looking for another RPG to add to your collection, I would definately recommend this.

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, Odin has gone and concealed another saga. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is the sequel to one of the most beloved PSone RPGs. Though it's never fun waiting to see if developers are going to make a sequel, this is perhaps the most appropriate time for the game to come. The first came at the end of PSone's life cycle – now we have Silmeria for PS2,...
