Strengths: good graphics, 3 unique perspectives, varied difficulty levels.
Weakness: Didn't have the same "wow" factor as the original.
Call of Duty 2 is a follow-up to Call of Duty 1 (also developed by Infinity Ward).
Call of Duty 2 is a "first person shooter". Over the course of the game you play as a Russian soldier, a British soldier and an American soldier. So you get to experience "eliminating" the Nazis with all sorts of weapons including their own.
The Russian missions back place in the early part of the war (1940-1943). A lot of the missions involve blowing up German tanks using sticky bombs - so you have to get up close and personal with them.
The British missions take place in North Africa. You fight in small towns and wide open desert. You play mostly as an infantry soldier on foot alongside tanks, but in some missions you are the gunner on an armored car, a gunner on a flak gun shooting down airplanes and also the driver/gunner of a tank.
In the American missions, you play as a Ranger on D-day storming the cliffs and taking control of the point. This is one very hectic intense group of missions even on easy difficulty. After this group of missions, there is audio of Ronald Reagan making a speech about the Ranger's efforts that day (I think the speech was for the 40th anniversary of D-day). Very inspiring.
I thought Call of Duty 1 was a phenomenal game - playing from 3 different perspectives and reminding of two movies - Band of Brothers where they take out the 88 guns in the second episode and Enemy at the Gate where the Russians blindly charge the fortified German positions under the threat of being shot by their own officers. But Call of Duty 2 isn't as special as the first game in my opinion. It's more of the same - lost some of the uniqueness after 1 and its expansion - but it's still a great game.
The graphics are better that the first game and the sound effects are great. You can play different difficulty levels; if you want to get through it quickly with a run and gun style then play on EASY and you won't die very often. If you want a challenge (sometimes it can be frustrating) and want the game to last longer, you can play on higher difficulty levels, crawling around a lot and using lots of smoke grenades.
Overall, if you enjoy FPS games then this is a worthy addition to your collection!

Weakness: None (if you don't mind playing Allied powers only)
This a excellent FPS for fans of WWII. Many venues, weapon types, and missions. I was particularly impress with day-to-day tactical scenarios presented in this game. Weather you were fighting a German sniper or a tank, many of the intriguing details kept me engrossed in the action.

Strengths: The graphics and gameplay are excellent. You feel like you are actually there in the battle.
Weakness: Those with less-powerful graphics cards may experience lag in places, but it does not detract from the overall experience.
I purchased this game because I was impressed by the first Call of Duty. Call of Duty II is exponentially greater than the first game. I found that it was very difficult to stop playing. Like the previous game, you get to play missions as soldiers from three different allied countries. The overall graphics, sound, and gameplay are above and beyond the previous game. I really enjoy playing the game and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys shooters and especially WWII games.

Strengths: EXCELLENT SINGLE PLAYER, EXTREMELY cinematic! Sets a new standard for graphics, even over the hit game Battlefield 2 for PC
Weakness: Multiplayer is only fun if your smart about it! And when you’re gaming, you really don’t want to be smart, just lazy!
The singe player campaign for this game is extremely cinematic, especially in "The end of the Beginning" (AKA: the demo level) and D-Day, All this is also nicely complemented with better than state-of-the-art graphics. There is just nothing better than skimming through the water in a WWII landing craft with the sea spray clouding your vision and men all around you looking sick or panicked when they hear a commander yell "Thirty seconds yanks, God be with you!"
-Running through a smoke cloud from a smoke grenade is fun as heck when you find yourself suddenly face to face with the enemy!
-unlike super Mario for the original Nintendo, we will never look back upon Call of Duty 2 and say, oh that game was so unrealistic!
-Throwing a grenade in a clump of Germans and hear them scream and get thrown into the air is a laugh
-The guns sound real!
-Despite some of the more negative reviews here, the single player campaign is longer than its predecessor and took me about a week of playing it to finish, don’t make the mistake of rushing it, play it slow and relaxed so you can truly appreciate it! But if you don’t want to take it slow or don’t have the time, it’ll still take you 10-15 hours to finish!
-I do admit that this game does have one small weak point, the multiplayer team deathmatch or any other mode (except search and destroy) is crazy and you are likely to feel like you suck at it in the first minute or so, but if you put on the Search and destroy Filter for games, its simply a blast being stealthy walking' around.
-----All in all this game is a MUST HAVE especially if you played the first and liked it (no annoying health packs to worry about :-D ) and even the multiplayer is not that incredibly lacking! As a matter of fact I still have the game on right now and I stopped right in the middle of a level when I realized I really should share my excellent experience with other people!

Strengths: Great Single player; Intense and lots of Cinematic moments; Way better graphics
Weakness: Few new maps on Multiplayer;AI is still so-so
This is a very good game, even though the multiplayer is a little weak.
CoD2 has some of the most (and best) cinematic moments in any game this year. Espically in the final scene of the russian mission "Demolition". Finish that mission and you'll be in awe.

Strengths: Doesn't take up much room in the rubbish bin
Weakness: Online play
Call of Duty in my opinion is about as good as a game can get, single and multiplay is fantastic.
COD2 however, words almost fail me.
Single player took me just 4 hours to complete on the hardest setting, by the end af it i felt i had only played a demo. Never mind i thought, multiplay is where it's at. Wrong! I find gameplay wierd, the whole experience is sluggish and seems to run a tenth of a second behind what you expect and appears to run in slow motion. Panning, jumping, aiming, shooting all happen after a slight delay which makes for a frustrating online gamming experience. I recommend smoking at least 2 joints to slow yourself down to the sluggishness of the game. And the PPSH. Just once shot grazzing your big toe will kill you instantly. Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to not only give each round from the PPSH the damage of a nuclear weapon but also make anyone using a PPSH bulletproof.
I want to like this game as i'm such a big fan of COD and CODUO but as it stands the only fun i will have with this is throwing it in the bin.
I will end on a possitive note, the maps are stunning, i just hope a patch can sort the rest of the problems out.

Weakness: maps are ripped from the old ones it seems except afrika ones, too many team markers over the players heads in multiplayer makes it look to xboxy i
its ok but i like playing multiplayer the single person is probly xcellent but im not into the single missions multiplayer action is where its at and it lacks bigtime, maybe when they come out with the cod2 xpansion itll rock. i prefer cod uo better and i give cod uo a 10 this i give a 7 for multiplayer that is.

Strengths: A (and only A) few minutes of VERY nice cinematics between levels IF YOU HAVE A HIGH END GAMING SYSTEM.
Weakness: This is SO pathetic compared to COD original that it made me weep.
An uncoordinated 6 year old could finish it in a few hours.
PLEASE fellow gamers: DON"T WASTE YER $$ ON THIS piece of game!!
Look at the weakensses cause that's ALL you get.
THIS GAME STINKS!
Graphics OK.
Plot (if any) is HORRIBLE and WAY too easy & BORING!

Strengths: Graphics improve gaming experince and weapons are improved.
Weakness: Most weapons require aiming at long range making it hard to use automatics at long range. Vehicles are disabled.
The game is fun to play because the multi player feature makes it easy to find a challenge, when someone has completed single player. Based on what i have seen in the single player missions the A.I. is smart when it comes to surrounding the player. This makes the game interesting and won't bore the player with predictable movements. Weapons make combat harder and more lasting because most of the time the player has to aim down his sight, and not just stay still and shoot. Disabling the health bar is a great feature, because the player doesn't have to worry looking for health, or getting killed by one shot. Sniping in this game is easier, thanks to "controlling the players breath" for some seconds. During multi player some might find it hard to play because the movements and actions are no longer artificial, but real making the game very good for those seeking real combat. Unlike the previous game, Call of Duty 2 allows players to jump over obstacles, to move around an enemy or take cover. If someone would like to experience the life of a World War 2 soldier they have to buy this game. I highly recommend someone buys Call of Duty 2 because it will change their gaming style.
Strengths: Fun gameplay with a fun single player missions and there are still plenty of online servers.
Weakness: Single player has little replay value. Cheating is common in online play unless you join a Punkbuster server.
Call of Duty 2's most important new renovation is the lack of a health bar. Unlike most shooters, there is no health bar and no health packs to gather. Instead, when taking fire, the player has to find cover to avoid being killed. This is a welcome change from having to run around each level looking for health packs when low on health. Apart from that, this game offers the usual single player mode and online multiplayer. The single player missions are fun the first time, but after finishing them, there's little reason to go back and play them again. Even after being out for years, the online community is still very active however, cheating is still common unless you play on a Punkbuster enabled server.
Strengths: Great, fun mulitplayer. Good enemy AI and a fun single player campaign.
Weakness: Single player campaign is nonlinear. Little has been done to stop cheating in online multiplayer mode.
Call of Duty 2 achieves what its predecessor did so successfully - immerse the player in a war setting so well that you feel that you are just one soldier in the middle of a massive war. Because of this, the player is placed in a squad of other soldiers that are computer controlled and will help the player complete mission objectives. While doing so, the player will see planes flying overhead bombing the city, artillery firing on enemy lines, and naval ships bombarding the coastline. The enemy AI will adapt to player tactics, such as fortifying its position in bunkers when being charged, or hunting down the player when retreating.
Strengths: The graphics are really nice. They have added Tanks and airplanes.
Weakness: Need more quotes from WWII.
I haven't completed the single player but I played multi-player 2 years back with some friends and it was great. It is much better than Unreal because it is "real" feeling. You can't run too fast. The bullets run out. The tanks shells arc. The terrain is really great. The grass, bushes, fences, trees. The towns and fortifications are much more complicated than the original which is good (more life like).
