Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: Graphics-A many improvements Sound-A (some) better voices good music Gameplay-A+ new ideas work & mini-games everywhere Length-A short/long Replay-A+ much improved Story-A? multi-end

Weakness: Graphics-some reused sometimes new not used Sound-kill NPCS and music Gameplay-series norms missing & too many mini-games Length-short/long Replay-some not carried over Story-sidestories overkill

For fans of Final Fantasy, this is your game. There is so much to do in this game you can spend many, many months trying to get through it all, or if you just want to play to see the end, you can do it in probably a day. There are many changes that have been made in the series for good and for bad:
GRAPHICS
You will see definate improvements over FFX, most obvious are the facial expressions... most of the time. Bad thing is, the new enhancements made are not used all the time... so some in-game cutscenes don't look as good as they could. The other obvious improvement is in the CG cutscenes. Character movement, lip-synch, etc. are all soooo goood... but unfortunately few CG scenes are in the game (BOOOOO!!!!). General NPC, landscape, etc. doesn't look a whole lot better but it has changed some. Battles have also been greatly improved, now everyone has shadows (yeay) but it needs anti-aliasing (boo), plus cool new stuff like moving cloud shadows and smother animation.
SOUND
Voices: Much improved voice acting even if some of the lines characters say just... don't... make... sense... Paine makes up for that, making fun of it (Rikku: "Dr. P is in the house!" Paine: "Stop that."). Yuna is actually lively (surprise) and Rikku... is still Rikku (gotta love Rikku). Then there are the NPCs... don't get me started on the NPCs... here is a "TO KILL!!!" list: Barthello, Lablanc, Ormi, Brother, Tobli, and every single Hypello!!! (NOTE: There is now a nice new addition of the ability to skip cutscenes!!! But not all of them.).
Music: Interesting... some people like it, some people hate it, I like most of it, but some of it gets on my nerves. Most of it has a techno-type beat (very un-FF) but I like it. Oh yeah, and now you can view the CG cutscenes in 5.1 surround sound (yeay), something they cut from the US release of FFX (boo).
GAMEPLAY
What's missing: no summons, no overdrives, no weapon upgrades
What's changed: same 3 female characters the whole game, ability to go wherever you want (have airship) at beginning of game, ability to change class/job (dressphere) during battle, camera moves a lot more around the battlefield (not only when you do something), battles are no longer "you on one side - enemy on other side" now everyone can semi-move about the battlefield, chain attacks to do more damage, attacking someone can be done while they are attacking (means you can kill an enemy while it lunges at you, this also means you can do some interesting stuff like cast life on yourself when your alive, and at the same time you are casting be killed but then revived by the spell you just cast), enemies can now become much stronger (oversouled) during battle gaining new strengths and abilities (happens after a certain number of times you fought it), the nice new addition of NewGame+ (see REPLAY below), tons of mini-games (but far too many and some far too hard), MULTIPLE ENDINGS!!! (see REPLAY below), percentage complete (keeps track of how much of the whole game you have done), story changes depending on choices you make (some of the story...), chapter/mission-based system (bad thing is, if you miss something or choose badly you can't go back and (re-)do it, good thing is, NewGame+).
LENGTH
This depends on what you decide to do. Just want to get through the basic story? Probably finish in a day. Want to get most of the abilities and get through the basic story? Probably the usualy FF gameplay time. Want to get absolutely everything and view every ending? Well have fun, we probably won't see you for a few years...
REPLAY
This is what makes FFX-2 so great: Multiple endings, and the ability to replay the game again at the beginning with all items/abilities/accessories/dresspheres/garment grids/percentage (but not experience, and some things have to be done again to do other things) you had at the end. There are also the many, Many, MANY, mini-games. Basically this game is filled with many different mini-games (problem is some of them are extremely hard, while others EXTREMELY time consuming, but you get cool stuff for doing them).
STORY
For now, I think the story could be improved, but then again I still haven't seen all the endings, so I am still unsure. The other thing is there are tons of sidestories... tons... and... tons...

I will probably have more to add, but for now this is all. I highly recommend this game even if I have a kinda love-hate/love to hate/whatever relationship with it... main point being it's tons of fun and has lots of replay value.

Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: Gives us the chance to explore the "Sinless" world of Spira, thus containing a certain nostalgia for the game's predecessor.

Weakness: I'm sorry, but so far, the story seems... stupid, the voice acting for several of the new characters, for lack of a better term, sucks, and, simply put, it just doesn't feel like Final Fantasy.

I must admit, I have not played into this game all that much thus far (due partially to the fact that a certain younger sibling of mine lost our Playstation 2 memory card accessory), but from what I've seen, this game seems rather idiotic. Those of you who have played it should know what I mean. Although I don't believe in rating a game until I play through the whole thing, I would still like to give

Now, I'm what you would call a veteran Final Fantasy player. I own 1-10 (with, of course, the exception of the never-released-domestically Final Fantasy III, albeit I have the translated ROM version on my PC), and there isn't a one in the lot of them that I don't particularly like. However, when I viewed the opening FMV of X-2 featuring the SO un-Final-Fantasy 'Real Emotion' (which sounds something like a techno version of Britney Spears), in addition to the stupid events that followed in the next hour of the game, I was nothing short of dissapointed.

In addition to the game's major plot deficiencies (or at least in the beginning, as far as I know), the voice acting for several of the new characters is AWFUL (*cough*LEBLANC*cough*). In addition, the current 'villains' of the game perfectly embody that extremely overdone and utterly idiotic cliché of the whole 'incompetent idiot villain' concept that we've seen time and time again.

Should you buy this game? Probably (Look at the strengths listed above). Just don't expect to be blown away.

Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: Gameplay, Graphics

Weakness: Takes a while to get into

The sequel to Final Fantasy X is finally here. The graphics in the game are fantastic -- some of the best seen on the Playstation 2. The sound is also very good with some great music which has become characteristic of the Final Fantasy series. Also, the gameplay is very good. There's a much different, faster paced approach to combat this time, but it works really well. The characters' dress spheres allow them to change abilities which adds a lot of variety to the fighting. Fans of Final Fantasy X will almost definitely be please with Final Fantasy X-2.

Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: It's a Final Fantasy game... what more should i say? The story line is new a exciting and is interesting for those who love action.

Weakness: The all girl team is kinda different. I know you can chose what you want their specialty to be but I am always more confident with a male in the party. Also, Lulu, Wakka, Tidus, and Auron? WHY!?

I recomend this game to anyone who likes adventure RPG's. It does have its disadvantages but doesnt every game? The graphics are awsome and the story-line is even better. Any game that has a great story line ,no matter what the graphics are like, would catch my attention, for example "Final Fantasty VII". That is all I have to say other than, GET THE GAME!!! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: Its a final fantasy game. What else do you need to know.

Weakness: It is a little short for a final fantasy game but its a sequel so I'll let it slide

The graphics are awesome. The game play is stunning. The dress spheres kick a**, especially the aeons. I just love this game! That's all you really need to know. It kicks a**.

Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: From what I can see the graphichs have improved a great deal, New battle system, Great story, Game is very nonlinear

Weakness: Sad ending, only three playable charcter and two of them are from Final Fantasy X

Now lets get the obvious out of the way I haven`t actually but since I was one of the few people who bought Unlimited SaGa and got to see the extended FFX-2 priview plus the already extensive knowledge I had from magizines and the offical Squaresoft website I have know alot more about the game then most people. So it`s pretty safe to say that game is proably going to be the best one in the Final Fantasy series or at least as good as Final Fantasy X.
The storyline is just as good as any of the other Final Fantasy`s maybe even better. Although I can`t be sure about the plot of FFX-2 but I think I know whats going on. From what I can tell Yuna`s famous for being the one summoner that defeated Sin. Yuna then decides to get away from the spotlight by disguising herself and going different places all over Spira with Rikku and Paine. Along the way they find that something is going on in Spira and decide to investigate. That when they all go back to the temples in FFX and meet familar stars from the prequel like Lulu, Wakka, Kimahiri, and Rikku`s brother. I`m not sure about this next part but I`m 65% percent sure that Yu Yevon {the final boss of FFX}merges with Bahamut {the giant dragon summon from FFX} and once again is trying to destroy all of the machina that Spira rebuilt. They end up killing Bahamut and all the machina go haywire and self destruct with Yuna in the explosion. She then finds Tidus and are then chased by a bunch of soliders. Longstory short Yuna is shot

Final Fantasy X-2

Strengths: A great RPG, following the characters and the world you already know.

Weakness: You need to play the first FFX to get the most enjoyment out of it, and it's easier this time around.

Final Fantasy X was one of the best members of the series, and this sequel is perfect for gamers who have already finished it and want more. The gameplay is still classic RPG formula, even moreso than last time (strategy is lessened in favor of the old quick-decision Active Time Battle), with some twists, like the Dressphere system. Instead of having one member of your party be a Fighter, another a Black Mage, and another still a White Mage, FFX-2 lets everyone be everything, and change classes on the fly by changing clothes. It's new, interesting, and it works.

The Sphere Grid is gone, replaced with simple levelling like you're used to in other games in the genre. The game is, as a whole, easier than FFX, which is disappointing, considering that everyone who will be playing this has already finished FFX. If you haven't played FFX, do that first, and if you want to spend a bit more time with Yuna and her crew, go ahead and pick this up. It's fun, but it's not better.

Final Fantasy X-2

For a long time I thought that Role-Playing Games (RPG’s) were confined to the world of Dungeons and Dragons and other various games similar to this. A while after my best friend got a PlayStation he told me that I had to see this RPG that his dad bought him, that game was final Fantasy VII. I was awestruck when I saw it, that night we played that game, getting wrapped up in its emotional...

Final Fantasy X-2 (ps2)

Square has been releasing Final Fantasy games with clockwork regularity for more than a decade. While each game in the series may differ either subtly or radically from any of its brothers-in-name, there's never been a sequel which attempted to continue a previous game. Each Final Fantasy stands alone... until now. Final Fantasy X-2 continues the story of 2001's Final Fantasy X, and does so not...
